I have been using 1" and 1-1/8" bits to cut through #6 and #7 rebar on our construction site. These bits preform AMAZINGLY WELL, cutting through 20+ bars (sorry didn't keep track before failing. The reason for failing was ALWAYS user based (forgetting to switch off hammer mode).
I used this tool to cut #4 rebar (1/2" / 12mm) grade SD40 T. I had never used a rebar cutter before. The first two holes went perfect. The bit went through rebar like a knife through butter and I was very happy and impressed. The third hole took a very long time. I figured maybe because unlike the first two that grazed a rebar edge this time the rebar was squarely in the middle of the hole. An hour later with lots of effort it got through. I washed the blade and examined it and the teeth were completely gone and the cutter was totally smooth and flat. I followed every instruction that came with it and for instance was careful not to use hammer mode with it. Two holes isn't enough life in my opinion so I am giving just two stars--one for each hole.
