Sawzall really does saw all!
Since I bought it, I have used it to cut everything, from alloy steel bolts holding the control arm on my buddy's car, to tree branches blocking mom's driveway, to walls in my brother's house, there's no stopping it! I first saw this particular model on an episode of Modern Marvels, and knew I needed one right then. The 360 degree rotating handle rules! One of the best features ever on any reciprocating saw I've ever used, you can make good, clean, accurate cuts in almost any location. If you cut a lot of strange stuff, in a lot strange positions, than this is definately the tool for you!

Amazing Tool
This saw is only limited by the strength of the circuit you plug it into. Milwaukee makes outstanding blades to go with it, some of which are so flexable, they will cut while bent at a 90% angle. I'm amazed by the condition of this "previously owned" saw and am considering taking my new "blue" drill/impact combo back to H.D. so I can order a re-con.combo from CPO! [...]

Bought this because my 30 year old one had gotten loose with wear. Still cuts rough work just fine but I needed to make a series of very accurate cuts on 4" x 10" beams. The new saw is awesome! We were cutting in tight spaces and just turned the handle and went to work. The blade holder is so easy to change blades. We would have to flip the blade to cut upwards on some cuts, flip it and cut down on the next.

A great tool! Let's see how it holds up.
When I put the tool on site of a 200+yr old demo project with smart, well paid help they tried hard to find faults.
The best they could do is tell me 'their' blades slipped out of the twist-locking mechanism.
They must have been using inferior Non-Milwaukee thin blades.

In demo work, a successful tool always wins when switches and triggers can operate in any direction.

Bottom line; It's a great medium to heavy duty tool with comfort, power & excellent design.

Keep up the good work Milwaukee.

Poor Switch Design. Stay away!
CPO customer service is 100% top notch and our company will continue to purchase tools from them. On the other hand, Milwaukee products have seemed to slip in product quality.

Switch design is poor quality based on experience with two units tested. Both had bad switches which should be sweeping variability within a range of 0-3000RPM. …USA components??

Starting from 0, startup controllability is unpredictable. Sometimes it starts smooth; sometimes it ramped up to full power then back to slow speed. At this point, having a tool jolt from the high torque doesn't aid in precise cuts. What if you're cutting a piece of aluminum trim which require slow start cuts so not to grab the material or distort it? Forget using this tool if that is the case. For demolition, sure it works, so does a chainsaw! On a positive note, the tool seems stout and appears to work well for general cutting (which is probably most tasks it would be used for).

Spoke with tech (which appeared attentive to my concerns asking to hold the tool before sending it back to CPO after viewing the video, he may want to take it in for further testing).

After tech viewed video, a few units at Milwaukee were tested of which he noted he experienced the same "control" or lack of. NO sense in exchanging for a "working unit" at that point since it will exhibit the same results. Video is located at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gl8ncnmN38Q

Tech stated that the tool is not meant to be a precision controlled tool and did not have an answer as to how to rectify the problem. He was taking up these issues with "Engineering". My comment was why have sweepable variable control? In addition, a fine-tune control to adjust speeds to a smaller band (which is usually for more control). Furthermore, tech commented that these are the same switches used in other D-handle tools such as their drills. I commented surely those drills are used for precision. He did not state whether those tools had the same problems that we both experienced (he did not test any of them at the time of our phone discussion).

Based on feedback and noting I would not be able to have a tool which operated correctly; my decision was to abandon this tool and purchase a Makita JR3070CT. I am also hesitant to purchase further power-tools from Milwaukee which use these controls. We use in our shop about 10 other Milwaukee tools which are older in design but work fantastic. It's a shame that I can't rely on their products anymore.

So you may feel after reading, I'm just a disgruntled buyer. As with all responses take mine with a grain of salt, hopefully your purchasing experience is better than mine. I'm actually quite attentive and attempted to work towards a working solution as I really wanted to stay with the Milwaukee name as we've used their tools for years without problems.

I am awaiting a response from Milwaukee Engineering as to if this problem has been overlooked for some time, or if it's a "lot" (production run) of poor quality control from the switch manufacturer. My background is Mechanical Engineering; I would revisit the switch design/manufacturer and attempt to rectify the apparent inherent problem. Hopefully, Milwaukee's Engineering department listens to suggestions and considers more testing before a tool as such is approved for production.

MADE IN THE U.S.A.'AND IT SHOWS!!!
Milwaukee's back!!This thing's a beast. This thing will cut anything you put in front of it,and then some.I've only used it to demo walls in a house,so far.I only used half the speed and no orbital action, because,I didn't need it.This saw is like a dragster on a quarter mile track. It will cut as fast as your capability of controlling the unit, will allow.Do you have an armored tank to cut in half? If so,this is the tool fr you.Best design,I've ever used.

BEST ANSWER: According to Milwaukee's website this is not made in M-18.

New Vs. Reconditioned

What's the difference between New and Factory-Reconditioned?

Factory-Reconditioned products have been returned to the manufacturer and are restored to like-new operating condition; they go through a rigorous testing and inspection process. Plus, they offer a significant savings vs. new.
  • Reconditioned products may have minor cosmetic blemishes or scratches that do not affect item performance.
  • Reconditioned products may not come with all of the consumables the new version comes with (bits, sanding pads/papers, cases, etc.).
  • Both come with a manufacturer warranty and are covered by our Money Back Guarantee; New is 30 days, Reconditioned is 60 days.
