Product Overview

Details

The new Rockwell Compact Circular Saw RK3441K can essentially replace a DIY'er's or professional's need for a full-size 7-1/4 in. circular saw. This compact saw uses a 4-1/2 in. blade and cuts 2X4 in a single pass. It is about 50% lighter than conventional 7-1/4 in. circular saws at 5 lb., so it is easy to maneuver around the jobsite. The slim, inline grip design provides great comfort, balance and control and the saw blade location provides remarkable cut-line visibility.
Features:
  • Powerful 5 Amp, 3,500 RPM saw can match the performance of full-size circular saws
  • 4-1/2 in. Thin-kerf blade design uses less effort than a conventional full-size circular saw
  • Arbor-lock button for easy blade changes
  • Bevel adjustment for 0 - 45 degree bevel cutting capabilities
  • Slim, ergonomic design, for one-handed operation
  • Easy set depth-gauge lever for quick setup and cutting adjustments
  • 1-1/4 in. Dust port for dust vacuum hookup and a clean work environment
Includes:
  • 4 -1/2 in. 5.0 Amp Compact Circular Saw - RK3441K
  • 4-1/2 in. 24 Tooth Carbide-Tipped Thin-Kerf Blade - RW9281

just right
I've had this saw for about 6 months now and have used it more than I expected I would. It's got all the features of the big boys, but in a much smaller package. I have a Handyman business and this is just right for 95% of the jobs requiring a circular saw.

I bought this for some small projects, to my surprise there is not a whole lot this saw can't do. It's well made and easy to handle in confined areas, I bought Rockwell because of their12v products that I own, and free battery replacement.

I am a home builder / contractor for 35yrs .I bought my Rockwell saw a week ago as I needed a smaller saw to cut in tight places where my 7 1/4 worm drive saw is too bulky. I have used the Rockwell saw everyday and have to say it is a great investment and easy to use. I have the same problem as others finding blades for the Rockwell saw.
Lowes store did not have a single 4 1/2 blade with the 3/8 arbor as all Lowes had were 4 1/2 in blades with the 5/8 arbor.. Maybe Rockwell could make an adapter ring/insert so a 4 1/2 in blade with 5/8 arbor could be used since they are common in most lumber yards.
I really like the Rockwell saw and will have to buy blades online from Rockwell since they are so hard to find..

The only down fall is the availability of saw blades for the Rockwell besides that I can't think of anything negative to say about the saw.
Great power. easy to use. price is right.

Handy portable size
I bought this saw as an addition to my circular saw. It is a great size and more powerful than I thought. The con about this product is the grip. It is too big to wrap my hand around it while pushing the safety button and trigger to turn the saw on. Huge problem. I have to use both hands to turn the saw on.

The Tool for Cutting Plywood
This is my favorite power tool. I have been building speaker cabinets, and the Rockwell Compact Circular Saw is significantly easier to use with 1/2" and 3/4" plywood than is a full-size circular saw. The cuts are easy, precise, and with a reasonably fresh blade, surprisingly clean. I'm sure it works well on lumber, too, but especially if you do a lot of plywood and panel work, adding this tool to your shop is a no-brainer. Make yourself a zero-clearance cutting guide and go to town.

Too convenient
I got this little saw because I started making chicken coops and dog houses. I was framing with 2x2s and 1x2s and using 3/8 plywood and luan. This thing was so powerful I was sing it on full 2x4s and 6s along with 1/2 and 3/4 plywood. The worm drive allowed it cut anything I put it to. Also, it's so compact it fits right in my toolbag. If I'm going on a roof or something, it fits in my nail pouch. A must have for quick easy access to a saw without taking out the full size. Honestly, I beat the heck out of it as my main saw. No signs of getting tired. I love this thing.

What is the max cut depth?
Two Timing Ted on Aug 6, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The blade cutting depth is 1"-11/16. I really did not expect much from this
saw but I use it all the time due to it's small size and light weight..
Love it!!!!
Cheers,
Nigel
How well does it cut for curved cuts does the saw bind a lot burn the wood if so soon as use the big skill saw. I need to cut a 2X4 on a curve to form the rails for a bridge railing, for looks not for a lot of use. Can it follow the contour lines of the curve without hassle?
Tibby on Apr 2, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Not sure for cutting curves with this saw but I've had a lot of experience
cutting curves. After marking your curve, make a first cut outside the
mark. Then, make the finished cut on the line. A small blade allows you to
make tighter curve cuts. Also special blades are available for larger saws
specifically designed for curved cuts. Hope this helps.
