Best table saw I have ever owned. Except for the miter gauge.
Hands down this the single best table saw I have owned since I got my first one in the early 80's. It is the perfect size for my small garage wood shop, and the fact it comes apart for storage is even better. The table saw stand is acceptable, definitely better than than my other tools by a long shot. But not sure if I will keep it very long as I may upgrade to use this saw with the DeWalt folding universal stand which is a lot more heavy duty. I got the version of this saw that comes with the Diablo blade which is outstanding as is. However I have the worm drive 7.25 framing circular saw that came with the Skil brand blade, which is seriously just as good as the Diablo, so I would have been just as happy with this table saw if it came with the Skil brand black blade instead. I have already replaced the blade with an 80 tooth design for specialty work I am doing on a project, and it does cut slower with more teeth. But overall it still has way more power than my previous saw. I don't mean by just a little, it is seriously noticeable over any direct drive table saw. In fact I doubt I will ever purchase any other direct drive table saws because they just don't have the power I am looking for. I wanted the power I had with an old Delta belt drive saw, and this Skil worm drive table saw is considerably more powerful than a pro-grade Delta. My only complaint about this saw is the miter gauge. It is plastic. I mean the most important part of a miter gauge is plastic. If you drop this thing from say 3 feet it will likely break. It is the most important function piece of peripheral equipment of any table saw and Skil completely dropped the ball on this. It is terrible. I mean it isn't even worth using. The very first time I tried using it the thing made me angry. I would have gladly paid an additional 100-120 bucks over what I paid for this saw brand new if they would have included a quality aluminum, or cast iron, or solid metal miter gauge. So be warned, if you buy this saw, don't even bother taking the miter gauge out of the plastic bag. Just toss it in the trash. It is completely useless for such a high quality table saw. I am already shopping around to replace it with a Delta miter gauge from amazon, or maybe an Incra miter gauge from Rockwood. For all the other other things on this saw, it is top notch. It simply can't be beat. The push stick is perfectly located, and durable. The plastic dials are a bit small and they should be made of aluminum for my liking, but decent. Overall the fence is better than my other table saws, and about what I expected for a small contractor saw. But don't get me wrong, it is a good fence and I am happy with it. Dust collection is pretty impressive and good with just a simple shop vac. I have nothing to compare it too since this is the first table saw I have had with dust collection, all my others just made a plethoric mess of my garage. Overall I would definitely buy this tool again easy, any day and highly recommend it to others. But with one caveat, be prepared to spend another hundred bucks on a quality miter gauge if you want to get the most out of this tool. The miter gauge that comes with this saw is completely useless toy, and should be an embarrassment to such a great company like Skil to have made the decision to include such a waste of plastic in with such a hard-core quality tool.

Skil it
I was on the fence about the list to choose from but when I saw the Skil I made it my choice. Great choice. I have had my old worm drive for many years so I know I will have this table saw for many to come.
Out of the box it is true, no need to do anything but rip.

Old is new again.
Looked around for a saw for my small home work shop
tried the yellow brand and it is worthwhile but when I got the Skil I found a familiar old friend and boy does it rip. You won't be disappointed when you inbox this tool.

it's a worm drive and I'll say no more.

Pros

Awesome Table Saw!
This is my first table saw, and I was attracted to the value, and the 180-day guarantee from Skilsaw. The innovative worm drive was one of the features that interested me, and I have no complaints thus far (though nothing to really compare that to...). The fence seems both solid and accurate, and all of the safety features are both easy to install and quite effective!

is there recon,s available on this saw yes ?
A shopper on Sep 13, 2016
1. Does this saw support dado stacks? If yes, 6 or 8 inch?
2. Is there a dado and zero clearance throat plate and stand available? If yes, I need ordering info and pricing.
3. Is this saw mainly used for construction, or can it also be used to build furniture?
Thank you.
Rob on Mar 27, 2016
BEST ANSWER: According to skilsaw.com
1. Yes it will support a Dado stack, up to 8" diameter but only 1/2" wide. The arbor will not accept anything wider.
2. The zero clearance and Dado inserts should be available soon. I'm not sure if they are the same as those on the Bosch gts1032 or not. From others experience, however, the Leescraft inserts should be much better than the originals.
3. This saw is designed with construction in mind. It should be plenty powerful for some larger work, though, as it was designed to allow trim carpenters to install cabinetry and trim so it should be sufficient for some detail work. The biggest concern for furniture construction will be the accuracy of the blade and fence and the size of the table. A cabinet saw is the preferred choice for furniture construction. Cabinet saws are quite a bit more expensive because they are much larger, heavier, and more accurate than these smaller saws.

New Vs. Reconditioned

What's the difference between New and Factory-Reconditioned?

Factory-Reconditioned products have been returned to the manufacturer and are restored to like-new operating condition; they go through a rigorous testing and inspection process. Plus, they offer a significant savings vs. new.
  • Reconditioned products may have minor cosmetic blemishes or scratches that do not affect item performance.
  • Reconditioned products may not come with all of the consumables the new version comes with (bits, sanding pads/papers, cases, etc.).
  • Both come with a manufacturer warranty and are covered by our Money Back Guarantee; New is 30 days, Reconditioned is 60 days.
