Product Overview

Details

The Bosch GCM12SD is a 12 In. Dual-Bevel Glide Miter Saw that features a smooth cutting motion, accurate performance and a space-saving design of the Bosch-exclusive Axial-Glide System. Pre-aligned Squarelock fences help the saw maintain precision throughout its life; a soft-grip ambidextrous handle along with a combination dust chute and vacuum adaptor add to user comfort. The saw also offers a large cutting capacity, easy-to-read bevel and miter scales with detents at common angles, and easy-access upfront controls.
Compact Axial-Glide System Creates Smooth Cuts - The Bosch-exclusive Axial-Glide System is designed to create smooth cuts and ensures that the user has complete control over the saw's cutting action. The glide system offers wider cross-cuts, enhanced alignment and smooth glide for the life of the tool. Axial-Glide doesn't use a traditional rail setup, so this saw takes up to 12 In. less workspace.
Powerful Motor for Versatile Performance - The Bosch miter saw's 15 amp motor delivers no-load speeds of 3,800 rpm for quick, accurate cuts in many materials. For further convenience and versatility, the saw is compatible with a variety of 12 in. blades and it has a clear lower guard to provide unobstructed cut-line visibility. With a 14 In. horizontal capacity, a 6-1/2 In. vertical capacity for material against the fence or base, and a 6-1/2 In. nested crown capacity against the fence at 45 degrees, this miter saw is useful for a variety of cuts. In addition, the saw features two sliding integrated base extensions that provide adjustable support for materials measuring up to 40 In. long.
Features:
  • Patented Axial-Glide System remains consistent throughout the tool's life
  • Compact design saves up to twelve inches of workspace
  • Glide action gives unmatched smoothness of cut
  • Expanded cutting capacity
  • High precision Squarelock fence and one-touch lock/unlock to slide fence for added support
  • 40 in. left-to-right, 60% more left-to-right material support than leading competitor
  • Adjustable miter detents at 0 degrees, 15 degrees, 31.6 degrees, 22.5 degrees, 45 degrees, 60 degrees right
  • Bevel detents at 0 degrees, 33.9 degrees, 45 degrees left/right for accurate cuts
  • Category best 90% dust collection when used with a vacuum
  • Large form fitting ergonomic ambidextrous handle provides comfort for all-day use
  • Super-accurate and durable design for long tool life
  • Easy-to-access thumb-actuated control right up front for fine miter angle adjustment

The stars dont mean anything!
It is very hard to evaluate this saw. I own the Bosch 4410 10” since 2010, I have had no issues with it , everything i wanted was on that saw. Here comes the dilemma! There are many 12" saw out there I initially went with the "Orange" 12" dual bevel miter saw, needless to say I was horrified when I got that into my shop, very awkward saw to work with. Back to the store it goes. I guess the ol saying holds true if it aint broke don't fix it. I figured I'd stay with Bosch. I picked up the GCM12SD. This saw is similar to the 4410 i.e in looks with some differences. Great feature the space saving ball bearing arm! and same good old power and accuracy form Bosch. Big misses for the price, saw has no laser or led guide. The back of the saw is open , the 4410 had a plastic plate which housed the adjustment tools for the saw. This is a big miss on the 12". This saw has no carrying handles to carry the saw . There are 2 hand indents on either side of the table but this makes it vey awkward to grab not to mention breaking your back since the saw is heavy. The 4410 had 2 handles on the top of the saw which made transport easy.
The saw is basically meant to be stationary in a shop, which suits my needs. However, buyer be ware it is not meant to be carried to a job site.
I think Bosch cheeped out on this saw, for the price this saw should have been top notch with all the trimmings!
Its really hard to give this saw a rating there are hits and serious misses! I cant recommend this it depends on the individual needs.

Great saw!
I bought this about 3 weeks ago and it really performs well. The only problem I had was the blade wasn’t 90 degrees to the table. It was easy to correct. All other adjustments were correct. I would highly recommend anyone buying this saw check all angle adjustments before using it. It will save a lot of frustration with cuts that are not accurate.

NEVER DISAPPOINTED
I own several Bosch tools and have never been unhappy with any of them. Always the highest quality without exception. I have not had a chance to fully engage this saw, but with the small amount of usage thus far I know I made the correct decision in purchasing another Bosch product.

Follow up "Sloppy Detents"
I have left a review that unfortunately this saw does not hold a square cut. Although Bosch responded quickly that the saw should be returned if less than 30 days or brought in to be evaluated, I spent so much time trying to adjust the saw it, is well over 30 days. This is a design flaw not a service issue. There is just too much movement in the detent design. I have since looked at several of the same models and and all can be moved back and forth while in the detent before locking down the arm. This is enough to throw off a square cut. When we got the saw the both fences were off square to the blade. This can be adjusted but detents are what they are. Try for yourself, look at other models and see if the arm drops firmly into the detent with no movement. This is not the saw for a finish carpenter or a framer for that matter. Sad, because I have other Bosch tools and I really like them. With so many positive reviews I don't want someone else to spent this kind of money and be dissapointed as I am. This saw now sits unused!

Great Flexibility - Very Precise adjustments
I purchased this saw to replace a borrowed 12" dual miter fixed saw. The range of adjustments on the Bosch model are fantastic. The locking / quick release features are great for quick movements that are easy and repeatable. The base extension arms make working on longer pieces of trim, framing etc a cinch to support. I really appreciate the locks on the glide to keep things very tight and secure when the range isn't needed. The usual Bosch quality and range of accessories / attachments should keep this unit relevant for many projects.

Sloppy Detents
I was expecting big things from this saw. It has many really good features. Unfortunately the feature I do not like is the sloppy detents. This saw does not hold a square cut which is a pretty important feature. There is too much movement in the detent. I much prefer my Milwaukee Digital Sliding Compound miter saw.

Just right for my wood shop
My previous 12" sliding compound miter saw took up almost 3' from the wall, it made getting by the table saw tight. The Bosch fits up against the wall, I have reclaimed over a foot of space between it and my table saw. It was a perfect addition to my wood shop and does everything the old 12" miter saw did.

What was the primary issue on the reconditioned versions of the Bosch 12 inch glide miter saws?
Jose on Jun 7, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Sorry I have no idea nor knowledge about any Bosch reconditioned miter saw. I brought a 12" Axial Dual Bevel Glide GCM12SD, that was new. I love the saw, but it is very heavy, so one does need the folding stand to move the saw around. Issues w/ this saw so far, I have none. From what I understand tho, a reconditioned saw is a little cheaper, but still is considered a new saw w/ the full warranty.

New Vs. Reconditioned

What's the difference between New and Factory-Reconditioned?

Factory-Reconditioned products have been returned to the manufacturer and are restored to like-new operating condition; they go through a rigorous testing and inspection process. Plus, they offer a significant savings vs. new.
  • Reconditioned products may have minor cosmetic blemishes or scratches that do not affect item performance.
  • Reconditioned products may not come with all of the consumables the new version comes with (bits, sanding pads/papers, cases, etc.).
  • Both come with a manufacturer warranty and are covered by our Money Back Guarantee; New is 30 days, Reconditioned is 120 days.
