  • R60 600mm Measuring Rail transforms the GLM80 into a 24 in. digital level

Great Instrument, Hampered By +/-1/32" Accuracy.
I am a preservation architect and former carpenter and purchased this measuring instrument to supplement my tools set for existing conditions survey work on historic buildings. Over the course of the last year, I have found the GLM80 to be invaluable, versatile and durable. In fact, it has won me over, with one notable exception (see "CONS" below:
    PROS:
    1. Rechargeable Battery (that lasts forever on one charge)
    2. 2ft Level Interface
    3. Brightness of Laser
    4. Screen Size
    5. Durability
    6. Versatility/Features
    CONS:
    1. Accuracy--I purchased this instrument fully aware that it's stated accuracy was +/-1/16", which is more than enough accuracy for the survey work I do in the field. However, the instrument reads dimensions to the nearest 1/32"! I don't know anyone in the construction industry (with the exception of VERY specialized trades) that would want or need dimensions to the nearest 1/32" out in the field. One would think that accuracy could be adjusted/selected as a setting within the programming on the instrument--+/-1/8" or +/-1/16"--but BOSCH Engineering tells me no. Not only is +/-1/32" accuracy not needed by the vast majority of the construction industry, it actually makes survey work difficult!
    2. Size of Numerals (Read-out) on Screen, though the screen is plenty bright. (This issue appears to have been addressed by BOSCH in some of the newer models).
In summary, I would recommend the instrument--and highly--if it was not for the issue of the +/-1/32" accuracy, which is greater than what was stated on the literature and on this website. BOSCH--please fix this systemic flaw!

    Good for what it is
I had hoped that I could use this to measure exterior walls by pointing to each end of the wall. No go.

It was very hit or miss whether I could see the dot outside.
