Quality Saw
This is my first barrel grip jig saw. I hope this feature allows me better control for coping crown molding.
The saw is well built, runs smooth, I'm sure it will give me years of use.

The Jigsaw power I've always wanted
During a home remodel, maw died, dead. I went on Amazon to research a replacement and found this BOSCH Barrel grip model with higher amp rating than most others and an interesting barrel grip design. I've used it many times now and just love it. The barrel grip and trigger-less switch make cutting curves so much easier. The adjustable speed control and extra power motor only add to the joy of using this tool. Then there is the quick change blade feature (no more screw driver needed. What's not to love?

Outstanding tool
I've wanted a barrel grip jigsaw for years and finally found this one at a decent price. It is larger and heavy but I personally think thatll has alot to do with why it's a great jigsaw. Very stable and more than enough power. Couldn't be happier with this jigsaw!

Best Jig Saw I've ever owned
I knew my jig saw was on it's way out so I did a lot of homework before purchasing. I read all the tool reviews and they all had varying thoughts so I went and looked to see what the tradesmen were using and was blown away 5 of 6 had this Bosch Jig Saw. When I spoke to them they said you can feel the precision of the build of the tool and you won't be disappointed. That sealed it for me and I went right out and bought it and I'm so glad I did.

Amazing jigsaw
I had originally bought a Milwaukee jigsaw (at around the same price point), because it had received a better review. It served me well, but after two years, it failed in a number of ways. Rather than getting it fixed and waiting two weeks for repairs (I use my jigsaw a lot), I decided to buy a Bosch. Even though the Milwaukee was good, this one is far better. Using it is awesome. From day one of use, I've had no doubts. I wasn't sure I'd like the barrel body (the Milwaukee had a D handle), but after only a few weeks I doubt I'd go back. It'll be interesting to see how this one is in two years, but I suspect it will still be going strong. It just feels solid and well made. Either way, when it's time to replace it, I'll probably end up with another Bosch.

A little disappointed
This barrel model was a replacement of an older top handle Bosch saw which I've used for years. The much easier blade change was the primary reason for the purchase, and I had thought the barrel design might be easier to use. The blade change device is fantastic, but I've found the barrel design harder to use. It's also louder (more amps? and the body (which is where you obviously hold it) gets very warm (hot) with any extended use. In hindsight, I'd go for the top handle if I had to do it over again.

Great Saw
I have purchased 4 of these saws, one for myself and others for gifts. I am 85 and still sawing. This is the best jig saw I have ever owned. Easy blade change, very versatile & accurate and powerful.

Just what I Needed
When I received this saw I thought it was too heavy. But it has turned out to be very easy to control. I cut intricate patterns for my art and I am very pleased with the results.

low vibration
This is a quality tool with more than adequate power for the advanced DIY'er. I particularly like the low vibration. However, it may be less controllable for those with smaller hands as the barrel grip is quite wide.

Does this come with a hard or soft case?
Taylor on Feb 3, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The JS470EB includes a hard plastic case
Js470. Any advantage of the D handle versus Barrel grip? The $25.00 price cut does not show at checkout, any suggestions?
chevy on Dec 5, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Biggest advantage is in keeping the tool's foot plate flat, and by having your hand closer to the blade/motor, you have better control and more tactile feedback.

Lack of handle also makes tool somewhat more nimble, and lack of big ole' handle could let you get the tool in tight spots where the "D" couldnt go!!
