Details

The Bosch MRC23EVSK 2.3 HP Electronic Modular Router System is an advanced set-up that provides a fixed base and a plunge base for the MR23EVS router. This system allows for outstanding operator control, with the trigger-control system that has a power switch in both the plunge-base's and the fixed-base's handle. The plunge base's Afterlock microfine bit-depth adjustment at any plunge setting allows for precision, with an adjustable turret stop makes it easy to set any cumulative depth. With a smooth plunge action and a spring-lock plunge lever, this router gets accurate results. The fixed base has microfine bit-depth adjustment, with a continuous depth range of 1-5/8 in., allowing for accurate and fast changes, while its precision-centering design allows the bit to be centered with the sub-base or optional template guides. The router has a 15-amp motor and adjustable speed settings. The variable-speed dial allows the operator to match the speed to the material. Constant Response circuitry delivers a constant speed throughout the cut. Users can glide along the intended cutline using dovetail fixtures, templates, jigs and other guidance devices.
Features:
  • Trigger Control System - Trigger power switch (with lock-on button) conveniently located in handle for enhanced control
  • Afterlock Microfine Depth Adjustment - Easy and percise adjustment at any plunge setting
  • Smooth plung Action, Spring-Lock Plunge Lever, and Depth Rod - For easy and percise plunge routing
  • Versatile Fixed-Base Depth Adjustment - Features 1-5/8 in. (41mm) continuous microfine adjustment range and hex wrench for microfine adjsutment through top of optional router table
  • LED Lighting - For enchanced visiblity in bit area

A sweet working machine. The Bosch engineers really did their homework before designing this one. One of the only routers with the switch in the handle, which allows a firm hold throughout each cut.

Bought a while back, great tool. Enough power to glide through hardwoods, just don't cheap out on the bits

Fantastic Router
This set is amazing, the bases are very well cast and fit like a glove with the main router.
The soft start feature is fantastic and completely eliminates kick movement when the motor engages, makes the router very safe. This also is compatible and fits in the router tables, so I love that as well! The adjustment mechanism is very easy to move and doesn't stick anywhere.

Plenty of Power
This router is great, it's got lots of power to do anything that I've asked it to from basic roundovers to new moulding for my kitchen. I really like the finger tip on/off controls. The only issue I've had with it is that there is a small magnet on the internal shaft that triggers a hall effect sensor on the speed controller. This snapped in half after my warranty expired, but I was able to open it up and super glue it back together... someone that doesn't have an electrical engineering background may not know how to troubleshoot and fix that, but I'm sure it would have been easily repaired by Bosch if I had needed to send it in.

Good router, poor fixed-base design
I bought this a few years ago, and I use it both hand-held and in a router table. The router and plunge base are a great setup. However, there is lots of play in the fixed-base, which is especially noticeable when using in a table. To perform above-the-table height changes, you need to make sure to reach into the table and support the motor and push up from underneath to make sure that the router moves straight. Also, after a few passes, the motor tends to cock in the base, which leads to poor quality cuts (especially when doing precision work with something like a lock-mitre bit).

A Great Router Combo!
Bought the Combo set, then over the next couple months bought several of the accessories (edge guide, dust collectors, offset wrenches, and new 1/2-inch router bits.
I am very happy I bought this router, after shopping at several stores and reading countless reviews online I decided on the Bosch. I mounted the fixed base to a router table insert, and use the plunge base for all handheld work.

I know a lot of people have complained about the lack of smooth travel in the plunge base. Have I experienced the same?...Yes, but ONLY when I don't apply equal downward pressure on both handles. There is no way the plunge will slide smooth if you are only pushing on one handle. I don't think any plunge base will slide smooth if both handles are not pushed equally.

What I like?... the soft start, ease of bit change, plunge base, and height adjustment features in both bases, and the solid feel the plunge base has.
What I don't like?...took me a couple of uses to get use to the weight of a 2.3HP router, as my previous machine is a 1HP plastic consumer version.

Advise I may offer?... This is a very high-end machine, thus you should treat it with respect and TLC to insure you get many years of great service. Don't abuse it, drop it, toss it in the bed of your work-truck, or let clowns borrow it.
Also, be cautious of the dust collector attachments, be gentle with them and they will never crack.

Best router I've used in a long time.
best router I've used in a long time. We complain today how cheaply things are made. This is not the case with this router.
Everything seems to be in the right place.

Good Router, but lift needs some work
I put this router into a Router table. It runs well at various speeds and doesn't seem to bog down under load. I like everything about the router set except for the lift mechanism. After using it for a year, the mechanism quit working. The problem was the shaft has a turned down area with an E clip on it. That is all that holds the weight of the router motor when you are raising or lowering the motor. The E clip jumped out of the turned down area and rounded it so it would continue to jump out. I ended up replacing the shaft and the e clip. Now, when I raise the motor from above the table, I put my hand under the motor and push up on it to take the weight off the E clip. It would be nice if the modified the plunge base/motor so you can remove the electrical connection on the outside of the motor and mount it in a router lift. I really like this motor.

Very powerful, Love the power button on handle.
Super powerful, great ergonomics, trigger on handle is both convenient and safe. Use it in table and with the plunge base. It's definitely large, so I'll be buying the new Colt 1.25 when it comes out.

Does it come with a guide fence? If not can you get one?
Bob D on Sep 10, 2018
BEST ANSWER: It does not come with a guide fence. One is available. Check to see if the RA1054 that CPO carries fits the MRP/MRF 23EVSK. I think it does.
is the Porter Cable bushing kit compatible with this router?
Steve on Dec 22, 2014
BEST ANSWER: No,each brand is proprietary to its own brand.

New Vs. Reconditioned

What's the difference between New and Factory-Reconditioned?

Factory-Reconditioned products have been returned to the manufacturer and are restored to like-new operating condition; they go through a rigorous testing and inspection process. Plus, they offer a significant savings vs. new.
  • Reconditioned products may have minor cosmetic blemishes or scratches that do not affect item performance.
  • Reconditioned products may not come with all of the consumables the new version comes with (bits, sanding pads/papers, cases, etc.).
  • Both come with a manufacturer warranty and are covered by our Money Back Guarantee; New is 30 days, Reconditioned is 120 days.
