Exceeded Expectations.
I read as many reviews as I could find. Developed my expectations and purchased the FLEXVOLT 60V Max for some clearing work that needed to be done on one of my properties. I've done a bit of work with my gas saw, but was getting tired of re-starting every time I needed to put it down. I'm not Paul Bunyan by any means, but I have work to do and this saw exceeded my expectations.

From the reviews, there were some concerns about power, bogging or battery life. The images below are from this saw's first test and I experienced nothing but great performance. From the Images, you'll see good chips, 22" diameter cut and when finished had 2 bars of power left. I actually did some other cutting before checking the battery.

What's that? You say the oil cap leaks or is too hard to fill? Use bar chain oil, it's got stuff in it to make it sticky, I experienced no leaking yet. Although, the saw does go through a bit of oil when in use. Keep some extra on hand. I just use standard hardware store issue bar chain oil, you can spend more for the fancy stuff. Buy a one dollar funnel (see photos.

What's that? You say you chain went dull right away? Simple, keep it out of the dirt. It's an Oregon bar and chain. Good stuff. Notice the nice chips I made. I did this in three cuts.

I was cutting white pine, so it's pretty soft, but big enough for a good test. I don't recommend cutting this diameter in, say, red oak. Your results may vary. I had good chain speed and the tool cut smoothly and quickly. I ran it up a bit when I first got it to make sure the chain is properly broken in and stretched. There was no problem with chain tension during the work. Actually, there were no problems at all.

Good stuff DeWALT. Another good product experience.

Versatile chainsaw
I love this saw. No need to worry about whether it will crank or not and no tuning required. Keep a few batteries handy and keep the chain sharp and this dude will chew up some wood.

Awesome occasional use saw
I've had this saw for about a year and use it for odd jobs, it does an excellent job. Power is very good and I've had no problems. I wouldn't use it for heavy timber, I don't think it's designed for that but for trimming and limbing as well as posts and such it's my go-to tool.

More power than expected
This has more power and the battery life is better than I thought it would. Not just by a little bit either! I cut down two dead trees (so harder wood and then cut them into fire would and still had over half battery. Very impressed.

Great tool, but oil tank cap is too tight at first
The Oregon chain is sharp, the chain tensioning system is easy and tool-free,and the included 9 Ah battery and fast charger are fine. This saw stops immediately when you release the trigger, which I appreciate for safety. And the front blade guard brakes the chain effectively if the saw were to jerk upward toward you (e.g. during kick back).

What I do not like is the plastic cap for the oil fill tank, which I could barely twist open without flexing its metal hinge pin. I was afraid it might break (it has broken for some reviewers). My guess is the inner rubber seal needs some lubricant at the factory to ensure it twists open easily. It is fine once you get it open (steady, firm twisting) and add some oil.

The tool-free bar clamp and blade tensioning system also uses plastic knobs, but they are sturdier, and I have not experienced any difficulties with them. It is VERY easy to adjust chain tension. The bar has not slipped or deflected for me.

This chainsaw cuts easier and quieter than two corded electric chainsaws I have used. It is a pleasure to cut tree limbs with (walnut, oak). If DeWalt adds a sturdier (or pre-lubed) oil fill cap I'd give it 5 stars easily.

Not for Lefties
I bought the saw yesterday and was reading the manual while waiting for the battery to charge. There was no bar oil included, but I have lots of it.

When reading about operating it, I came across a statement in the manual to never use it as a left handed person would, with right hand on the handle and left on the trigger. My Current Stihl 036 that I've used for 20 years works fine left handed, but is not ideal. This saw is designed to thwart left handed people even more.

I'll try to use it right handed, and will update the results. I'm a bit afraid that it will be unsafe for me to operate it right handed, since its a very awkward position for me. We'll see.

As others have noted, the oil plug is stuck initially, and takes a lot of force to open. Then its OK.

Love it
This thing is absolutely perfect for my needs, a chainsaw for 30-45 minutes half a dozen times a year. No messing with gas, you pull the trigger, cut down a tree, put the saw down and do what you have to do. Then pull the trigger again and cut something else, no yanking on a pull cord or playing with chokes. I've had it for a week and cleaned up my yard immensely. I bucked a 16 inch (100 ft) oak tree cut down by hydro and left at the end of my driveway in manageable pieces. I cut down a 100 foot pine tree and cut it into pieces for the fire pit.. I've cut down a bunch of swamp willow.. I don't think it will replace a gas chainsaw for somebody running a logging operation buy for my needs it bang on. I recommend this product.
