Great Planer !!
This is by far the best planer I have ever owned, been woodworking over 35 years, owned many planers, delta, grizzly, wen, older model dewalts, this is by far the best of them all, its just a joy to operate, sturdy built, moves up & down very smoothly, super smooth finish on the boards, very little snipe, I really like the blower that ejects the sawdust, I installed a 4 inch flexible hose on the dust port and vented it into a 50 gallon craftsman plastic tote, works perfect, I would say around 98% dust efficient, this will probally be my last planer purchase, couldnt be more pleased, probally the best purchase I ever made in woodworking.

Very Nice
I really like this planer. I had a Ryobi that worked well, for a while. My issue with the DW735X is the powerful discharge is so strong that when I hook it up to my shop.van 6.5hp vacuum, the shop vac blows saw dust at the gasket. It didn't with the Ryobi. I am trying to find a solution without a dust collection system.

Loving my Dewalt DW735
I have been a hobby woodworker for over 30 years. I've built everything from birdhouses to bookcases and blanket chests. After so many large pieces I wanted to go smaller. I saw a video on YouTube about building cutting boards. I knew that I needed a planer for this so I purchased a DW735. It's FANTASTIC!! I enjoy making the boards and giving them to friends and family. I would like to enter the Dewalt giveaway because I'm using my very old Craftsman direct drive 10" table saw. I'd love to win the Dewalt saw shown in the giveaway. Please give me a look. Thanks.

Excellent value and great quality
I spent about a month doing research on a planer. While researching it cane down to price and features. And while this was significantly more expensive than other brands and even the other dewalt planer it was worth the investment. With that said, the planer was pretty much ready to go out of the box. The only thing I needed to do was attach the outfeed extenstion tables and make sure they’re leveled with the planer. The quick dial presets make it easy to preset a desire thickness for your piece. The crank system was a bit stiff but after several uses once the grease lubricated the gears it was smooth and easy to operate the thickness adjustment wheel. Feeding of the work piece is easy, although I did get a little bit of sniping, it’s easy to compensate by feeding the boards at an angle rather than straight. This not only helps with the sniping but helps the planer use the blades evenly. It’s a bit loud and ears, eyes and nose protection should be used. When the piece comes out it is smooth and is almost ready to glue. With two speeds to help you work your piece this is awesome. All I can say is I’m impressed as extremely satisfied with my investment. Wether you’re a craftsman or a serious diy’er this tool is a must have for anyone who is serious about the quality and isn’t willing to compromise with quality results.

Best portable planer on the market
I've owned this planer since 2007 or 2008, and couldn't be happier with its performance. As a home remodeling professional and hobbyist woodworker, this model handles everything I need it to from quickly planing construction lumber to putting a fine finish on hardwood for furniture. Durable, precise, and powerful.

Its worth it
I bought this over a year ago and this planer is worth every cent. It produces a great surface on both hardwoods and softwoods. This is a good planer for a hobby wood worker or a small shop because most of us will not be surfacing boards that are more than 13 inches wide so this gives you the performance as those high dollar 20 inch planers. This planer is easy to use I particularly like the indexing settings on the side that assures repeatability in surface thickness. Also the powerful ejection of the chips will make sure that dust collection hose is not clogged. Very easy to hook to a shop vac.

Maximum width material planer can handle?
A shopper on Jun 1, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Dewalt states 6" however I have never surfaced anything above 4" and it did a great job. A 6" timber of of oak in a longer length I believe would put undo stress on the unit.
