    Excellent piece of machinery
Excellent piece of machinery. DO BUY A good 12-3 Extension cord. It will double the life of any powerful electric tool. I have 150 feet of 12-3 cord, in 100 ft and 50 ft length. The edger never hesitates in heavy going even at the full length of the cords. Do NOT use anything less than 14-3 at 100 feet with it...Even though it will perform, you will reduce the length of its life. Replace the blade after a hundred hours, if you are using it in gravelly land, otherwise its life is almost unlimited. Whether you buy a new one or a reconditioned one, they are productive and safe tools. My current Reconditioned one simply looks like a brand new unit, it is that well refurbished. AS I only do my own lawn, it is not possible for me to learn to work with a string trimmer for the job that this unit does. It is wheeled and self supporting, so there is barely any strain on my arms or back to use it. I've also used it as a marker for spading a flower bed, by raising the guide to its high position. The two inch (deep) soil cut is perfect for marking a nice edge for the bed to be prepared. I'd send a photo, but do not have the desire to go take a couple and transfer them to my computer...YES, I'm that lazy sometimes! :-)
ONE MORE thing...When doing Yard work with power tools of any type: WEAR HEARING AND EYE Protection. PLEASE

    Waste of time and money
As has been the case with every other tool I have ordered from CPO, the Black+Decker LE750R was delivered in its retail package without any additional protection. Although the box was dented, the edger survived its trip undamaged. This was a refurbished tool but it looked new without any sign of why it had needed refurbishment.

Assembly was chiefly connecting the two pieces of the handle to the motor unit. There is a stiff power lead that runs up the handle from the motor to the trigger switch in the tool’s handgrip that resisted being pushed into the motor unit as instructed in the assembly manual, making it impossible to connect the two handle pieces. I had to make and “S” bend in the lead to assemble the handle. After that, attach the blade to the motor shaft and assembly is complete.

I had hoped that this tool would make faster work of cutting back the grass and sod that has grown three or four inches onto my cement driveway and sidewalks. Sadly, the time I spent assembling this tool would have been much better spent cutting back the sod the old fashioned way with a straight edged spade. This noisy power tool just made a mess and scarcely dented the sod. It turned out to be faster and much neater doing the job with my spade. I think this tool might be OK to maintain an already tidy edge if the pavement and sod are at similar heights. A string trimmer would arguably be a better choice in that case anyway.

    Great for Sidewalk
Actually this is just a replacement for an old model that wore out. I've used these Black and Decker Edgers for years. You have that extension cord but I certainly doubt that a battery operated model could work all afternoon like this does. The price was less than the last one I bought years ago and the power is there to get the job done.

Excellent light weight edger for your lawn
Poor weather has kept me from large trials, but what use I have put it to has been impressive. The wheels tend to accumulate mud, but a paint scraper removed it quickly. I like the light weight, and I'm looking forward to replacing my string trimmer with this tool!

Great value and easy to use
About $30 less than new but with the same warranty. It was easy to assemble and use. I've used it twice and it just gets easier to use. I recommend this reconditioned item because a new one is only new until you assemble it and pull the trigger the first time.

Good value for the price if your lawn is small.
Generally does a good job. Would be easier to control if the 2 hand holds were farther apart.
I like the idea of the 2 position guide, but it isn't as firm as I would like in the down position..
The ability to adjust the dept is important, but the process is a little clumsy. Most of the assembly is obvious, but it included ZERO instructions.

How does the trencher work?? Is it just the blade goes deeper into the ground which makes a narrow trench? Sounds like it would be rather narrow?

    New Vs. Reconditioned

What's the difference between New and Factory-Reconditioned?

Factory-Reconditioned products have been returned to the manufacturer and are restored to like-new operating condition; they go through a rigorous testing and inspection process. Plus, they offer a significant savings vs. new.
    • Reconditioned products may have minor cosmetic blemishes or scratches that do not affect item performance.
    • Reconditioned products may not come with all of the consumables the new version comes with (bits, sanding pads/papers, cases, etc.).
    • Both come with a manufacturer warranty and are covered by our Money Back Guarantee; New is 30 days, Reconditioned is 120 days.
