My second Greenworks saw
I bought this saw to have a lighter saw for use at home. I have a Greenworks 80V saw for farm use some distance away. Both saws are well worth the money.
I don't use chainsaws enough to be comfortable with them. An electric saw is simpler to operate and seems to me to be safer--less noise, no smoke, and you don't start the saw until you have it in position to make the cut. The batteries have all the capacity that I need and more. If you plan on doing extended saw work you may want a second battery.

Convenient & No Fuel
Have had traditional chainsaws and wanted no fuel and less maintenance. Had this chainsaw for about 2 yrs and happy with it. I have 2 batteries and so far get the usage I need since I am out of my tree downing era. Now it's cutting logs into manageable shapes for lathe turning.

Exceptional run time
I have had this chain saw for about 3 years with most of my use of it in the Spring, Summer and Fall. I am always amazed at the long run time I get from the saw. I am often able to buck much more of a tree than I predict. I find it easy to sharpen the chain and find any needed replacement parts online. It is comparable in weight to my old gas powered saw. The self oilier for the chain is great, but do take the time to clean out the housing over the chain from time to time to remove oil caked saw dust. If possible, used up all of the oil in the self oilier before storing it to prevent oil from leaking out when not in use.

Looking
I think this would be a good tool, but I'd like to know where I could see it in use and feel it for my self. I bought a gas operated one years ago an it didn't live up to my expectations. Where can I see in action?

Similar performance to my old 16" gas saw
Bought this in June and was my 1st Greenworks tool purchase. Have had a lighter shade of green brand "X" 18V 10" saw I bought in 2012 along with a gas powered 2.3cc 16" saw that I've had for 18 years that just started giving me trouble last year. The 18V saw with it's really slow chain speed is OK for light pruning, but that is about it. I did not want to get another gas saw, so I started researching Brushless chainsaws, and first looked at the brand "X" 18V one since I own a bunch of this already. Reading chainsaw reviews online, this other brand even in their 40V platform was not highly rated ... the Greenworks 40V on the other hand was closer to the top of the ratings and at a similar price point. Figured if I was introducing another battery platform to my garage, there was no reason to stay loyal. Especially after seeing all the different 40V tools Greenworks offers, all of which blow the other brand out of the water in features, quality, and performance at a similar price point (my brother has a bunch of the other brand's 40V platform that I able to use for comparison.

Back to the saw ... now I've only done 15-30 minutes of light pruning with it so far (up to 4" dia. branches), but with it's respectable chain speed ... variable speed 130-418 IPS no load (vs. a fixed 85 IPS for the 18V saw I have) it performs close enough to my gas saw and is pretty efficient as far as battery usage.

Really like the steel bucking teeth that are typically molded points in the plastic housing on most other brands including my old gas saw.

Also like that it has a chain brake lever like a gas saw where many cordless (including brand "X") this is just a fixed position guard and NOT a chain brake.

I like the product line so much that I've since bought 5 other Greenworks 40V G-MAX tools and have a total of 5 batteries and 4 chargers.

It has passed the test of time
I purchased this chainsaw several years ago ( when it was first available ). I use it all around our 35 acre property for trimming, pruning, removal of dead falls and even some firewood cutting. I was skeptical at first of a cordless saw but have become a true believer. It is lightweight, has excellent power and the battery is more than adequate for my needs. All in all the saw has surpassed my expectations and over the past several years has held up well, is durable and has passed the test of time.

Works well, but can be improved
Used this a couple times and cuts well except for saplings which cause chain to knock off. I like the saw and feels good. The bar oil chamber leaks and could be designed better.
