Excellent Product
This model is pretty good. My yard is taken care of easily, with much fuss. I have 2 batteries and that enoiugh for 5000sq ft. The only issue I had was with the trimmer head spool cap, eventually it got damaged. I was able to purchase another and I'm back up and running.

(The trimmer head assembly is item number:31110836
You can order this from the supplier at 1-888-909-6757 or through our third party parts site here: -
) Hope this helps some users.

Another great tool by Greenworks
After using the 80V snowblower for a couple seasons, I decided to get the string trimmer and chainsaw.

The string trimmer is awesome, as are my other 2 Green works tools. I love not having to mix gas, pull a cord until the trimmer decides it wants to start, not hearing the incessant whine from a noisy gas engine, and being able to hang the tool up for the winter without any extra steps.

Having extra batteries is very handy. I have a 2 acre yard with quite a few trees and edging. I can still usually finish the job on 1 battery, but on occasion need a backup. I bought the chainsaw without a battery and charger, so I only have 2 batteries, but that's more than enough for any of the jobs I need to do.

No complaint about this or my other Green works tools. Professional durability and power at a consumer friendly price!

Amazing String Trimmer
I have had the 80V cordless string trimmer for about a year now and it is definitely worth the price. I can take care of my 3 acres in almost half the time, though I do recommend having at least 2 batteries, I have 3 total. The only downside is that the push feed on the trimmer head finally broke and I can't seem to find one easily accessible that works with it.

We bought this last year to go with our new 80 Volt self propelled lawn mower....
I didn't mention it in the mower review, but the handle folds down and you can hang it....
Hang up the trimmer and no more messy garage...
It peforms as well as a gas powered trimmer without fighting to start it...
No more gas cans in our garage....
If my Yamaha could run on these batteries, I wouldn't have any gas in the garage..
I got the extra spool for quick changes, and I can do all my yard on one battery...
Do away with gas and jump on board the Greenworks 80 Volt train...
I love my Ryobi 18 Volt leaf blower, as I do all my 23 Ryobi Tools, wrong review...
But when it dies, or when somebody gives me one, I will switch to a 80 Volt Greenworks 580 CFM Leaf Blower, Hint to Greenworks….

GreenPro 80 volt String Trimmer
Works well, has plenty of battery time to trim around barn, garage and house. So much more convenient than messing with fuel and oil.

Serious cordless power and duration
My wife has been clearing our land (mesquite, cactus, and underbrush) while I build our house. She first got the 24V Greenworks polesaw and loves it. (Hang on, this review is on the 80V String Trimmer) Due to a past work injury, she doesn't have the arm and shoulder strength to use the polesaw with all extensions because it puts the weight too far out for her to comfortably manage, but it suited her the way she runs it without the one extension. So, she then decided she needed a serious cordless weedtrimmer as we have an older NiCad Black & Decker. It doesn't have the power to cut any seriously thick weeds nor the staying power (in a matter of minutes, it starts losing the power to cut grass). So, the search was on and my wife already favored Greenworks. Enter the Greenworks DigiPro 80V Cordless Lithium-Ion 16 in. String Trimmer. This is serious. It is the equivalent of a 32cc Gas Trimmer. It will take "universal" gas trimmer attachments. The lower shaft has a square drive that will mate with many attachments out there. Additionally, you can change the head out. We did. She did run it with the .080 line, but she wanted more grunt. Even though .080 is sufficient for most trimming jobs, my wife is clearing land of brush and weeds that could substitute for small trees. The manual that comes with the trimmer explains how to remove the head. Once removed, she decided to go with a "grass gator" head that takes line up to .105 or nylon blades. She has gone with the blades. This thing is a monster. The only drawback is this trimmer weighs in at 18 pounds. It does come with an over-the-shoulder-across-the-body strap, but due to her arm & shoulder strength, she can't run it too long at any one time...which suits her fine. Mind you, the strap and the handle bar are adjustable and make for a good balance. At our property, this isn't for mowing, it is for eliminating. BTW, this beast's battery hasn't been run down all the way yet. Every time I take it home to charge...less than 30 minutes and it still has at least one light lit on the battery level when I first put it on the charger. I imagine you could run it 30-40 minutes straight...but who does that.

This calls for .08 line will the .065 work also?
Lindsey on Sep 12, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes, the smaller line will fit into the spool. But, it is always best to use the recommended line diameter to prevent the line from tangling inside the spool. The larger diameter line will last longer as well
Is there a 80 volt 4amp trimmer? Can a 4 amp battery work on a 2 amp unit with out damaging it?
Stu on Aug 30, 2015
BEST ANSWER: CPO does not currently retail a 80V 4AH battery. Yes, a 4AH battery can be used on a 2AH charger, the AH (Amp Hour) is referring to the capacity of the battery not the voltage.
