so much easier than hand raking
I have about 5000 sq ft. of lawn with a lot of moss that I killed last week that needs thatched and reseeded. I'm doing it in sections. cut it low and bag it, thatch it to remove the thatch and dead moss I killed earlier, mow it again and bag it so I can see the spots that need hit again, re thatch the areas of moss that did not get picked up the previous times, re mow and bag again, and reseed and cover. moss is very hard to get up even when dead and you have to go over these spots multiple times and in different directions that eventually create a bare spot so the seed can take root. trying to do this with a hand rake is a lot of work but this machine makes it so easy. 2 days and I'm 1/2 done.

Dethacher replacement
Their equiptment is top of the line. A part broke on my dethacher and instead of sending me the part they are sending a whole new dethacher. I didn't even relise it was still under warranty. What a great company to deal with. I will buy equiptment from them again, and tell my friends about them.

Works great and does not tear up lawn very much
5 years of ownership. I have used this atleast 10 times. The very first time I used it, there must have been 5 brown bags of thatch and the lawn looked thin out. I dethatch twice a year now and the lawn looks great. First time I had 5 brown bags full, now I get about 2 a year. As far as durability. The machine will rattle itself apart. There is a rubber flap with 2 wing nuts. They will rattle loose and fall out. I think the machine works better with out the flap. Thatch can build up in the machine and get thrown back down in with the flap. With out it, the machine just spits it right out the back on top of the lawn. Also, at the bottom of the white handle near the green machine, there is a black block. There is a 2" sheet metal screw threw the white handle and that black block into the green machine housing. Over time the vibrations of the machine and movement of the handle will cause that screw to break. So keep an eye out when that black block falls out.

bought this over a year ago and I use it mainly to trim the grass from the edge of flower beds. Works just like it says and no tedious upkeep. The only problem I had is that I didn't read the instructions...don't pull backwards.

Pros
Lightweight
Perfect Dethacher for the home owner.
This Greenworks Dethacher is a breeze to use. It is very easy to push and it really does a great job raking up the dead thatched grass. Only drawback is that there is no catcher, but it is not really needed as it would fill up very quickly. I just used my leaf blower to get it all into a pile for quick removal into a large trash bag. I am very happy with this purchase & I know you will be also.

Great product!
I really like this product. It surprised me how much it got out of my lawn. The fingers that grab the thatch seem to last quite awhile also.
