new saw, won't start
This is a new saw, and other people and I have tried to start it. Of course, the reaction after a certain time is that it is flooded. Not so: we've tried it cold, we've tried it later while pressing the bulb only the suggested 6 times, and every other way. We've worn ourselves out; no hint that the thing is going to crank. NOW: I looked at previous ratings on this site, and I've found something interesting: the most recent dozen ratings before mine average out to about 2.3. Mostly divided between 4 (people happy, though some mentioned the starting difficulty) and 1 (people whose saw wouldn't start or started and then died). But if you look at the same number of ratings from the earliest ones offered, most will be 4 and 5, with some 3s and, I think, just one 1. That may not be a representative sampling, but it strongly suggests that Husqvarna isn't making them as well as they once did. My experience supports that conclusion, because my previous Husqvarna was great for a number of years. This one goes back to the store tomorrow.

Nice Homeowner Chainsaw
I've only used this saw several times but it is just right for the homeowner that has occasional trees, limbs, to cut up. It seems durable, and has started fairly easily. The build quality seems heavy-duty and it is easy to add gas and bar oil. I had one fairly large, and 3 smaller willows, to cut down and limb out. It performed this task easily. This is the first gas chainsaw I have owned and it is nice. I have had numerous electric chainsaws, but this one is much more powerful and more portable. Our property is large enough electric is out of the question. This saw will be all I ever need and the price was reasonable. I feel very positive about this purchase!

From a guy in the tree service industry.
Coming from someone with much experience in the landscaping/tree service field, I'm quite pleased with this saw. For professional work I would surely use something more rugged but, for the homeowner this machine exceeds its "small saw" reputation. I bought this chainsaw simply to cut firewood at home but I was so impressed by the raw power and response time that I found myself felling mid-size trees with this little scream machine! A must have for the homeowner.

Pleased with product and exceptional service
Purchased my first Husky recently. Have had several high and low end saws. The new 435 was purchased from Mike at Evans Saw Shop in Green Forest.
The saw is great. Starts first time every time, runs good and cuts spectacularly.
However the service I received from Mike was above and beyond everything I had expected.
Good Job Husqvarna on vetting your dealers.
I am impressed!

This is a really great all around chainsaw. I have used it to take down big trees and to do light trimming. It is light enough for the small jobs but has plenty of power for the big trees. I would reccomend this saw to anybody looking for a good quality saw at a good price.

I do Chainsaw Carvings as a hobby. The 435 is a great chainsaw
has some great features on it.
I have owned Sthil and Poulan and this unit has alot of power and is lightweight.
Would recommend this 435 Husqvarna to anyone that wants to get the job done quickly.

Good all-around saw
The saw was purchased for light limb trimming and to remove a fallen (10") diameter tree. It performed very well, starts, and is comfortable to use.

Good saw, but a little lightly made for farm use
I bought my Husqvarna 435 when we bought a small farm in July 2010. Because this was my first chainsaw, I didn't want one that was too big or too powerful. In retrospect, I probably should have bought at least the 18-inch saw since I routinely have to deal with down trees that are more than 32-inches in diameter. That's life I guess...

Anyway, this was an excellent and reliable saw until about 6 months ago. Then it stopped functioning because the carburetor was gunked up. The repair guy said that this was because of alcohol in the gas. Even though I was using a gas treatment that was recommended at Tractor Supply for this sort of thing, the repair folks told me to always drain the gas after use and run the saw dry. I have been doing that for a while now and it works great.

I have had two other minor problems since then. One was that the pull starter wore out, and also the chain oiler clogged (an easy fix). I have also acquired a 20-inch Stihl saw for the big trees. The Stihl is bigger, a lot more powerful, and easier to start. But, it is also a lot heavier and less maneuverable than the Husky and cost nearly twice as much.

Life will go on for my trusty Husky. It has reached the point now where I have to fix small things pretty regularly (it has gotten a lot of use though). But, it is so small and light and honestly so darn powerful for such a small saw that it is still very handy. I would say that I will reach for it more frequently than the big Stihl in years to come because it packs so many good things into a handy package.

I have purchased two 435s and had issues with both. I gave my first one away to a person who repaired it and uses it on his farm. It was hard to start plus issues with pull cord mechanism. The second worked fine for 6 months, but repaired pull cord mechanism (plastic and metal). The repair lasted two months and then then an issue with the brake. Had this repaired and just last week the saw quit while cutting fire wood like emergency stop was activated. Repairs exceeded what I wanted to spend with an unknown future. Repairs in the past year for the saw have been just over $100 which is not acceptable. I will purchase a competitor's saw.
