Being aluminum you have to be real careful with it cause it will bend on you real easy. It most definitely works as designed.

Works great. I use it with corresponding Makita track saw. I use this for cross and angled cuts in mdf, plywood, 1x and 2x lumber. Don't always want to pull out table saw and honestly I will probably use the table saw 50%less especially because I use this with a shop vac dust collection system and it all works wonderfully. Don't bother getting 2 55" rails and joining them. Get a 55" and a 118" and you'll be ready to rock and roll.

Necessary parts for rail splicing
Typical Makita quality, but a Festool price.

CPO did drop the price a week after I bought a pair.

You really need two sets. One set does not support the spliced rail enough in my experience.

Makita 194368-5
Went with two shorter rails rather than the long one out of price considerations and more options with a short rail. Was concerned about ordering these because the web is full of horror stories of these not being straight. I got lucky; mine were able to cut within a 1/16th over 8 feet. As such, they do what they are designed for. It is now much faster for me to break down sheet goods. The rails join using the proprietary connector. My only complaint is that the rails join at only one point, requiring a good amount of care when moving the joined rails. I would have preferred having the rails secured at two points. Another note: I use these with the quick release Dewalt clamps that fit perfectly. I think the Makita screw clamps just take more time to adjust to different stock thickness.

great quality straight as an arrow
I ordered this guide rail to complement my Makita plunge saw kit (comes with a 55in guide rail) so that I was able to have a long 110in guide rail to cut plywood sheets plus I am a DIYer that works off of his 2 car garage...so space is limited
I was very hesitant as I read different reviews of people receiving their rails with bows, bends that would have prevented you to align the 2 rails together. I purchased the Festool FS2 guide rail connectors and did not have any issues (using an straight edge) to connect the two 55in guide rails and have a straight cut/edge. There is occasionally a slight bow when placed on a full plywood sheet but that is overcome by the weight of the rails once together paired with the weight of the plunge saw. it has to do with the plywood in my humble opinion and even if you encounter a slight bow as it makes contacts with the plywood, your plunge saw will cut straight.
It came well packaged, there was a small dent on the box from shipping but no damage to the guide.

overall very satisfied with the purchase and great combination with the Makita plunge saw kit (plunge saw + 1 55in guide).

Came in fast.

will recommend to any DIYer, this is a professional tool so any DIYer will be more than satisfy.

Best.

Best Service Ever
This was a replacement that would not accept guide rail connectors due to an undersized slot on the bottom. This one is perfect. Everything work fine. The service provided by CPO was way beyond anything I expected. No questions asked - just send them the bad one and a a new one showed up as promised. In fact, it appeared on my door step sooner than expected. Product is as good as advertised but the service is way better than I have ever experienced from an on line purchase.

I have a makita 5477NB 7 1/4inch hypoid left handed skill saw and was wondering if it would work and fit to this guide rail?
Kelly M on Mar 7, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I do not believe it will work. This rail was designed to be used with the Makita track saw. It does however work with other brand's track saws, as I actually use this with my HK-55 Festool saw. The base plate of the saws have to be engineered with a groove in them in order to ride along the rail.
When a second guide rail is purchased, does it come with connecting rods to attach it to the second rail?
David on Apr 8, 2016
BEST ANSWER: No it does not. You will need to purchase them separately.  They were out of stock when I ordered so I used the festool #482107 $18 each 2 required and they work very well.  Be careful not to get the set screws to tight, the track is aluminum and can bend. They don't need much to hold them in place.

Will we work with festool rail guide?
None b on Feb 9, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I can not send you a link of instructions on how to modify Makita guide rail, but you can find them are on Swedish Woodworking website. Once there, search for "modifying-a-makita-guide-rail-to-work-with-festool-attachments"

After reading it, I bought 2 makita rail guides for the price of 1 festool

Hope this was helpful
Are there Makita clamps available for these guide rails?
Loren L on Nov 13, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes, Makita does make clamps for their guide rail and they looked heavy duty! I saw them yesterday at a woodworking store. Maybe under accessories! Good luck!
Is this a universal rail. I have a (Skill's) circular saw and wondering if this rail fit on my saw
tommy on May 10, 2015
BEST ANSWER: No, the guide rail is not universal. It is made specifically for the boot of Makita circular saws.
can I get a carry case or bag for these rails
