Product Features & specs :

Makita XCU02PT1 18V X2 (36V) LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless 12 in. Chain Saw Kit with 4 Batteries (5.0Ah)

Details
The 18V X2 LXT (36V) Chain Saw (model XCU02PT1) is powered by two 18V LXT batteries (36V), so you get 36V performance and run time for corded and gas-powered demands but without leaving the 18V LXT platform. Model XCU02PT1 is a kit and includes four fast-charging 18V LXT 5.0Ah batteries and an 18V Dual Port Charger that will charge two batteries simultaneously for increased productivity and less downtime.
The XCU02PT1 Chain Saw has a 12 in. guide bar and the Makita-built motor delivers 1,650 FPM for increased cutting speed, but with less noise (only 89dB(A)). It has zero emissions and reduced maintenance: there's no engine oil to change, no spark plug to replace, and no air filter or muffler to clean. And there's no need to drain the fuel for storage. Simply pick up your XCU02PT1, load two 18V LXT Lithium-Ion batteries, and the saw is ready to use.
It’s part of Makita’s expanding 18V Lithium-Ion system, the world’s largest cordless tool system powered by 18V Lithium-Ion slide-style batteries. Makita 18V Lithium-Ion batteries have the fastest charge times in their categories, so they spend more time working and less time sitting on the charger. For improved tool performance and extended battery life, Makita created Star Protection Computer Controls. Star Protection is communication technology that allows the Star Protection-equipped tool and battery to exchange data in real time and monitor conditions during use to protect against overloading, over-discharging and overheating. For increased versatility, the tool can also be powered by Makita 18V LXT and Compact Lithium-Ion batteries with the star symbol on the battery indicating Star Protection inside.

Great little saw!
Awesome little saw. I purchased it for my wife to use on projects where we volunteer our time to remove trees for others. She has been using my bigger saw (Stihl 440) for several years now and wanted her own saw to use to de-limb as we process debris from trees. Although very capable of handling the bigger saw, it always seemed overkill for that task so we decided to get her this to try out instead of a gas powered saw smaller than the 440. Thus far we are impressed by the power of it being battery driven. It’s heavier than expected but not a negative thing! We really like the clutch that stops the saw almost immediately upon release of the trigger. The chain brake to preventing the saw from running seems redundant when a safety button already has to be engaged in order to get power when the trigger is pulled. That’s not an issue just seems overkill. Overall the saw is a nice little tool. We will see over time how it lasts.

Awesome Power!
I've used this 12" 18 Volt Makita chain saw now for a few trimming projects as well as completely cutting up a 10" diameter Oak tree. This saw did all the liming and then cut the up all the limbs and over half the trunk before needing to change the batteries. I only had 5 cuts left so I changed the batteries and finished the job.
The automatic oiler worked great and did not leak all over like a lot of the other saws I've had over the years.

I would definitely recommend this saw to anyone that needs to cut or limb trees and especially to anyone that lives in a wooded area with gas chainsaw restrictions during summer.
