4" steel cup brush
I love Milwaukee M18 and M12 cordless tools. This grinder does not hold up even under mild use. I have a 4: steel cup brush on the grinder shaft. I am using it mildly to brush the standing seams on my tin roof of the barn. The brush is worn out and i can not get the lock to hold the shaft to get the brush off to replace it. It eats batteries when I am using it. I say a 1/2 hour max on a 6AH battery. Not sure what to do. The lock will not depress and the wrenches just spread open when I try and use them. Any advise?

Not overly impressed
I bought this in a "starter pack". Came with a 5 AH battery and this grinder for what my local stores are charging for just the battery. I was excited to use it as I work as a beat mechanic in an underground mine. Sometimes, having a cordless grinder is the difference of a couple of minutes to gain access to something vs. several hours. I'd used it a few times to cut rebar out from under a scooptram that got tangled up and I was more than excited to have it in my bag. I went to use it a few nights later to cut a 2' sch 40 pipe and it kept kicking out (with a brand new cut off wheel installed). Finally, I went back to the shop and grabbed my partners yellow cordless to finish the job. A few weeks later, I went to use it to cut off some 3/8'' bolts and it burnt itself out. Tool is only a couple of months old.

This is the first milwaukee tool that I have not been extremely happy with it. I understand a grinder has a tough job to do and making it cordless is just asking that much more of it, but I am really not impressed with the quality of this tool.

I would not buy this again.
Bought the bare tool only, keep im mind i tried 3 different brand new batterys that seem to work just fine on any other milwaukee tool i own even my big impacts, but not this one.
After 10 seconds into a 1/16 thick piece of sheet metal it cut about an 1/8 of an inch into the metal and cut off. Its been about 24 hours and no natter what battery i use it doesnt come back on. My 17 dollar harbor frieght grinder cut a 1/2 inch peice of steel from a mobile home frame no problem.

A compact grinding powerhouse!!
This is an incredibly useful tool. It’s compact design allows for use in close quarters and it’s power allows grinding and cutting operations that rivals a corded grinder. I highly recommend this tool.

This one of my favirite tools.
I purchased this tool early 2018. I have used it at work and home. I use it as a grinder and a cut off tool. I ues it a lot, and I have not had any problems. I want to buy another one to keep loaded with a wire cup brush. I LOVE THIS THING!!!

Does Not Qualify for "Nothing but Heavy Duty"
I have owned many Milwaukee corded, old 18volt, M12 and M18 tools. My truck has Packout containers full of them. While I have generally been very satisfied with their quality, the 2680 cut-off/grinder does not qualify. It tends to consume batteries; I tried 3 different 5AH but did not try my 12AH versions because of weight issues. The real concern is that the motor easily overheats and the tool continually cuts out. I wrote to Milwaukee tech support describing the issues which also have been shared in other reviews. I returned the tool and ordered a heavier duty model 7180.

Big power in a small package
We also have every variation of the more expensive FUEL grinders. Once in awhile you just need this more nimble 4-1/2 M18. Great in tight spots. People complaining about power and run time aren’t using the right batteries. Get a 12, a 9, or at least a 5.0 amp hr battery. We abuse this in industrial settings and it just won’t quit. It’s probably cut 200’ of 1/4 mild steel.

Handy 18V angle grinder.
Sweet angle grinder. Plenty of power. Like the quick detachable wheel guard. Might have preferred a standard on/off switch but the paddle switch isn’t a deal breaker. It operates satisfactorily after you get used to it. My first cordless grinder. It sure feels great not to drag an electrical around.

Do you sell separately the washer to hold the disc?
Cesar on Jun 7, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I don't think CPO Tools carry the spindle nuts. I could not find them. MSC Direct does. Since most of the spindles on small hand grinders are the same you should be able to use a Dewalt set. Dewalt part # D284932 Look at the picture and see it that is what you want. They carry other backer plates as well.
Can you adjust the rpm?
A shopper on Mar 24, 2019
BEST ANSWER: No, you can not adjust the RPM.
How long does one of the 3.0 batteries last on a full charge??
Logan on Apr 30, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Depends on what you are doing.
If you’re cutting steel with a cut-off wheel, about 20 minutes of work. If
you’re cleaning up welds with a fladder or surface grinding wheel, much
longer, about an hour.
