Troy-Bilt 12AVB2MR766 21 in. Self-Propelled 3-in-1 Front Wheel Drive Mower with 159cc OHV Troy-Bilt Engine

The Troy-Bilt TB230 self-propelled mower features a reliable starting 159cc Troy-Bilt OHV engine with Check, Don't Change system that eliminates oil changes. By simply checking the oil each time and topping off as needed, this system reduces maintenance time and having to dispose of old oil. True variable speed front wheel drive transmission will turn more easily around landscape features and obstacles. Equipped with the TriAction cutting system, this system includes a rake bumper to lift grass upright, a specially designed blade for a finer mulch and a symmetrical deck for superior grass flow, eliminating clumping. The TB230 self propelled mower comes with three options to dispose of grass clippings, including side discharge, mulch or rear bagging capabilities. Equipped with 11 in. rear wheels for improved traction and maneuverability on hills and uneven terrain, plus dual lever height adjusters for easy change of cutting height, you can depend on a Troy-Bilt mower to be rugged and reliable. Your work in the yard inspires us to design, test and build the most reliable mowers we possibly can.
  • 159cc Troy-Bilt Check, Don't Change OHV engine eliminates the need to change the oil by simply checking before each use and topping off as needed
  • True variable speed provides improved control over front wheel drive transmission to turn and maneuver more easily around landscape beds, trees, and at the end of each row
  • 11 in. rear wheels provide improved maneuverability on hills, inclines and in rougher terrain
  • Maintain cutting deck more easily by connecting a standard garden hose to deck wash adaptor to rinse clippings from underside of deck and easily adjust the cutting height from 1.25 in. to 3.75 in. with the dual-lever, 6 position height adjustment lever
  • 21 in. 3-in-1 steel cutting deck with TriAction Cutting System and side discharge, mulch or rear bag capabilities
  • 1.9 bushel rear bag collects grass clippings for easy clean up or composting
  • Mulch kit included to help put nutrients back into soil for a healthier lawn
  • Side discharge chute comes with handy, built-in clip to attach to handle when not in use
  • California residents see Prop 65 Warnings

Troy-Bilt 12AVB2MR766 21 in. Self-Propelled Mower Great Value and Easy to Use.
This mower works fine. I use it weekly for my lawn.
Starts on first try. Amazing, never needs an oil change;
quite perplexing.
Would recommend this product.

Describe Yourself:
Avid Do-it-Yourselfer
Cuts way too short
Every landscaper who walks across my lawn scolds me: "You're cutting your grass too short!" they all say. I reply, "Yeah, I know-- it's on the highest level!" They say, "no way. Show me your mower." After 5 minutes of tinkering, They give up and grunt at me. This has happened 3 times.

Look, the unit's decent; I like it. I'd like a wider deck, but I like it. The mulching is decent, the running is decent. It starts first or second pull EVERY time... but the deck is too low, and there's nothing I can do about it. Since this is actually STRESSING the lawn I'm trying to be nice, this machine gets 2 stars. The specs say highest level is 3&12 inches? No way. More like 2 & 1/2, max.

If anyone can help, I'm all ears.

Better than expected!
I ordered this lawnmower in July 2019 to replace another Troy-Bilt mower i purchased in 2003. The old one still works pretty good, but decided to give to my Niece. This new Troy-Bilt TB230 operates with ease and cuts the lawn in less time because I no longer need to cut it twice for the grass to look perfect. The self propelled lever makes it easy to control the speed of the mower for all.

Good Mower
I have used this mower 7 times it starts on no more than two pulls, has a nice even cut even on rough areas. It is a little heaver than my last mower but that has not been a problem. I will add at this point I am 80 years old and a lot of things are heaver than they used to be. Good product

I bought this mower on line. I have only used it twice but I love it. great cut, very easy to use. starts on first pull.
I would have given it 5 stars but the rubber on the handle grip has already started to come apart. It is rough and rubbed a blister on my hand. I can wrap the handle so no big deal but it should really bee looked into
