Works ok, but the plastic line should be metal
The plastic flex line used to cut the leaves wears down way too quickly. I tried to remove as many of the branches and hard items from the leaves as I could and I was still going through a pair of flex line for every two bags of leaves I dumped or every few minutes. If a steel or some other metal line could be used that would be ideal. I bought some 14 gauge solid copper wire that I plan to use next time because at the rate I was going though the plastic red line I will be out very soon and sill be constantly buying more every time I rake leaves. I need something that will last longer for sure.

I like this mulcher!
I just bought my 2nd worx mulcher. The previous one lasted about 5 years of heavy use (left outside year round and I'm quite happy with it. I use this for all the small gauge and soft matter that needs to get broken down for composting. I use husqvarna .095" line which is much, much better than the worx supplied line. Changing lines often is my only complaint about this unit (spool feed option please!). I would much prefer a larger line diameter (.13") for durability reasons. Care must be taken to not overload the unit which breaks the trimmer line and requires a 5 minute line replacement chore.

Good Leaf Shredder
I ordered online, with some hesitation. I was happy with the way it worked. It worked better with larger leaves (sycamore and oak, specifically. Smaller leaves (from elm trees, specifically) seem to pass thru the mulching without as much mulching. I was a little disappointed to see the monofilament line was gone after about 10 bags of mulch. But overall, I am happy with the mulcher

WORX electric mulcher shredder WORKS
Minimal assembly. Plug it in it works. No gas, no cranking. Needs an extension cord and gets dusty, it's a shredder. Works great on large crop of oak leafs. Small twigs take toll on line but easy change out. Sure beats stuffing unshredded leafs in a bag & 11-1 volume reduction is a good estimate. Definitely recommended.

Works Great So Far!
After doing some research I settled on this particular model. That being said, I took the advice of a previous poster and replaced the (blades? provided with some .95 weed wacker line (cut to matching lengths) and it lasts much longer. Overall, I'm extremely satisfied with its performance even though the 11:1 ratio is a great bit of PR; I'd be interested in hearing from anyone who's actually achieved that. I've found the dust mask and eye protection to be essential. I've just spent 6 hours in my backyard mulching all make and manner of leaves for my compost heap. I've had to change the line twice but that's to be expected. I'm careful what I "feed" it and don't expect it to chew up pine cones and twigs. Bottom line: I'm extremely happy with my purchase considering that fact that I picked it up on Cyber Monday for $100 and QVC is selling the same unit for almost $200 with shipping and handling rolled in (seriously?).

This crunches leaves well.
I used the leaf mulcher for the first time last weekend. I liked that the leaves and small twigs would get shredded and compressed down 11:1. At first it seemed to work very well, but after the 3rd or 4th bag, the mulching slowed down considerably. Shaking the unit helped the mulcher to shred. I recognized that the cutting performance highly depended on the length of the cutting lines. I used the spare cutting lines from the package and used a spool I had for my weed wacker. I also removed the small black cutting line trimmer that seemed to block leaves and and unnecessarily trim the cutting line. The lines wore out and got shorter about every 6 bags. We ran this machine for 4 hours and filled up 75 bags of shredded leaves. I recommend this machine with a few recommendations:
1. Keep an eye on the cutting strings. Replace when mulching slows down.
2. Buy a thicker cutting string.
3. Remove big twigs or pieces of bark that clogs and quickly wears out the cutting line.
4. Use full size clear big bags. You can see when its full and you can change bags less often. If you use small bags, it will slide off the metal frame and blow leaves out.
5. Remove small metal cutting string trimmer.
6. Wear a face mask and eye protection.

At first we had to use the short white pedestal because our bags were to short and would fall off the frame (see picture). It got easier when we upgraded to the bigger clear plastic bags.
