    Too light duty
I bought this two years ago and I use it in a 200 hundred meters yard every three weeks average and I have been “repairing” it for the last 6 times I used it until it was destroyed beyond repair, because the parts flew.

Good trimmer for light duty work
The trimmer is good for yard work but getting into rougher areas eats the string ( which is too small )up quickly. But for the money it is a good buy and I would recommend the re-conditioned one.

    The string trimmer Works
I'm clearing several acres of weeds and brush on a steep hillside, and the trimmer works quite well. It replaces an old trimmer that died on the hillside. I've gone through two spools so far, no problem. I actually like it.

GH3000 is a Line Hog not a Grass Hog!
I wanted to replace my old Toro Line Trimmer because the line was breaking off in the head all the time. I did some research and found the GH3000. However, many reviewers stated that this trimmer was a Line Eater. Additional research lead me to believe that the line that came with the trimmer was of poor quality which proved to be true for my use. I also learned that I could replace the B&D line with a better quality which I did and got great results.

The attached video details the results I got with the better quality line and how to store it so it will last longer.

    LINE HOG Not Grass Hog
I own a Toro line trimmer that was giving me fits with line breakage and having to rewind the spool all the time. I looked at a number of electric trimmers and landed on the GH3000. However, many of the reviews indicated that it was a LINE HOG. So, I did some research and determined a way to significantly mitigate this problem.

I really like this trimmer as the motor is in the handle and, with the right type of line, does my yard with less than a yard of trimmer line.

I recommend this to anyone who has a moderate size yard but want a more powerful trimmer... using the line I found that works.

See the video link below for the correct trimmer line to use with this model.

I need a manual for the gh3000. is there an on line version that I can print?
    Ellis W on Jul 22, 2017
BEST ANSWER: You can go to the B&D site -- blackanddecker -- towards the bottom of the page you can select manual(s) .. or you can try manuals.lib .... the B&D site allows for printing it free ... I think the other is a 'for fee' /// OK, just found out you can't type the .com after the site, but you get the idea, I'm surel
The string keeps breaking right at the hub. Cannot trim over 5 to 8 feet without string breaking. It is wound correct because I buy new spools. Why is this happening and how can I get better results? I am ready to pitch the unit.

    New Vs. Reconditioned

What's the difference between New and Factory-Reconditioned?

Factory-Reconditioned products have been returned to the manufacturer and are restored to like-new operating condition; they go through a rigorous testing and inspection process. Plus, they offer a significant savings vs. new.
    • Reconditioned products may have minor cosmetic blemishes or scratches that do not affect item performance.
    • Reconditioned products may not come with all of the consumables the new version comes with (bits, sanding pads/papers, cases, etc.).
    • Both come with a manufacturer warranty and are covered by our Money Back Guarantee; New is 30 days, Reconditioned is 120 days.
