Bosch GCM12SD 12 in. Dual-Bevel Glide Miter Saw

Details
The Bosch GCM12SD is a 12 In. Dual-Bevel Glide Miter Saw that features a smooth cutting motion, accurate performance and a space-saving design of the Bosch-exclusive Axial-Glide System. Pre-aligned Squarelock fences help the saw maintain precision throughout its life; a soft-grip ambidextrous handle along with a combination dust chute and vacuum adaptor add to user comfort. The saw also offers a large cutting capacity, easy-to-read bevel and miter scales with detents at common angles, and easy-access upfront controls.
Compact Axial-Glide System Creates Smooth Cuts - The Bosch-exclusive Axial-Glide System is designed to create smooth cuts and ensures that the user has complete control over the saw's cutting action. The glide system offers wider cross-cuts, enhanced alignment and smooth glide for the life of the tool. Axial-Glide doesn't use a traditional rail setup, so this saw takes up to 12 In. less workspace.
Powerful Motor for Versatile Performance - The Bosch miter saw's 15 amp motor delivers no-load speeds of 3,800 rpm for quick, accurate cuts in many materials. For further convenience and versatility, the saw is compatible with a variety of 12 in. blades and it has a clear lower guard to provide unobstructed cut-line visibility. With a 14 In. horizontal capacity, a 6-1/2 In. vertical capacity for material against the fence or base, and a 6-1/2 In. nested crown capacity against the fence at 45 degrees, this miter saw is useful for a variety of cuts. In addition, the saw features two sliding integrated base extensions that provide adjustable support for materials measuring up to 40 In. long.
Features:
  • Patented Axial-Glide System remains consistent throughout the tool's life
  • Compact design saves up to twelve inches of workspace
  • Glide action gives unmatched smoothness of cut
  • Expanded cutting capacity
  • High precision Squarelock fence and one-touch lock/unlock to slide fence for added support
  • 40 in. left-to-right, 60% more left-to-right material support than leading competitor
  • Adjustable miter detents at 0 degrees, 15 degrees, 31.6 degrees, 22.5 degrees, 45 degrees, 60 degrees right
  • Bevel detents at 0 degrees, 33.9 degrees, 45 degrees left/right for accurate cuts
  • Category best 90% dust collection when used with a vacuum
  • Large form fitting ergonomic ambidextrous handle provides comfort for all-day use
  • Super-accurate and durable design for long tool life

No Laser or add-on for one ??????
Hello I just purchased this GCM12SD saw & a T4B stand to replace out older 10" version of this. The saw, the stand are awesome, BUT! why is there NO LASER?? or even the laser washer option like there was for our old 10" version. For the premium price you pay for this saw you would expect a built in laser. Even the cheap, junkie brands have lasers. The laser make for a quicker operation of the cut, more productive. I think Bosch failed on not designing this fully. Hopefully a laser washer or something in made to correct this one & only flaw. Also think it should be provided free of charge to anyone that purchased this model, if one become available, we all paid a lot for the saw. This is the only reason I give
it 4 stars instead of 5...

Great saw, full of features
Recently upgraded my 15+ year old saw and couldn't be happier. While this saw is on the heavy side, it will reside in my shop so the extra weight is an advantage in my application. Two key features I really like are the knuckle (silky smooth and no obvious deflection and front controls for bevel & tilt (no more reaching around the back). I did a fair bit of research on this unit prior to purchasing it and have not encountered any trueness issues. It was really accurate out of the box, however I spent about 45 minutes fine tuning it and have not seen any degradation with regards to accuracy. Only time will tell I guess. All in all, it's well worth the money in my opinion and I don't have any negatives to say, at least right now. I'm still in the honeymoon phase. I plan on adding taller sacrificial fences and a zero clearance insert soon, as I have with all my previous saws.

Wow
Great saw. I cant imagine anyone not liking this saw. I see several complaints not precise but I made a full crosscut on plywood and my large square shows it to be dead on dead on. There is the excessive weight but I consider that a plus. Complaints about no laser so what buy one I dont feel the need. However the DeWalt light contraption would be cool. The bag for sawdust is all but useless but all of them pretty much are.

My only real complaint is the power switch safety. Its terrible and probably the cause of peoples inprecise cuts. Its hard to push causing side pressure while cutting. What i done for a fix is cut wood blocks that fit the safety on both ends to disable it. I no longer have a safety but generally dont like them. I will leave them working if they're well designed this one is very bad.

This a well thought out saw that works very well. Buy it for precision, ease of use, duribility, and space savings. I have no regrets

When I was looking for the Right 12' saw for my shop I wanted something powerful and compact to fit in the are I needed it to go. After my eyes went buggy reading as many reviews I could on various I wasn't sure at first but then when I saw the Bosch in action I knew that was the saw for me. I have used alot of miters and this one with out a doubt is in my top 3 saws. in fact the articulating arm puts it in my number one spot. The saws accurate is fantastic. The fence is awesome and the dust collects very well. Ergonomically it feels great having safeties on either side of the handle for ease of use depending on what cuts you are doing. I have had this saw for a year and a half and it has exceeded all my expectations.

Always been impressed with Bosch drills, so looking at this hard. BUT, who markets a saw and does not provide arbor size in the specs???? IDK. and reading the reviews, looks like too much emphasis on marketing gimmicks, and not on tool know how.

Great saw! So well engineered and designed
I’ve had this saw over a month. It is way better than I expected. The usability, the detents, the user friendly settings, the precise exacting cuts. All great. The need for an actual 12 inch blade, not 11 7/8... a small drawback. The Freud blade is just an 1/8 to small. The dust collection is 1/2 as good as my cheap old Craftsman.

Is there a laser accessory for the GCM12SD?
Charles I on May 7, 2017
BEST ANSWER: There is a laser that goes on the arbor for the saw, but it's pretty average. I honestly prefer to eyeball everything on any saw with a laser guide for better accuracy.

Use a stop block if you want truly consistent, repeatable cuts, or mark with a knife for one-offs. Lasers can't be trusted when doing stuff like crown molding or round/curvy material in general.
What is the horizontal dimension from the face of the fence to back of the arm? In other words, what is the clearance dimension from the back of the saw arm to the face of the fence?

What was the primary issue on the reconditioned versions of the Bosch 12 inch glide miter saws?
Jose on Jun 7, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Sorry I have no idea nor knowledge about any Bosch reconditioned miter saw. I brought a 12" Axial Dual Bevel Glide GCM12SD, that was new. I love the saw, but it is very heavy, so one does need the folding stand to move the saw around. Issues w/ this saw so far, I have none. From what I understand tho, a reconditioned saw is a little cheaper, but still is considered a new saw w/ the full warranty.
