Smooth and powerful
I am not much of a router user. I have had a few of them. In comparison this machine is head and shoulder above the others I have. The first time I plugged it in and hit the switch I had to actually look to see if it started up. Yes, the soft start is that good. The trigger on the handle is one of the best things ever done to a router. I feel so much safer not having to remove a hand from the machine to start and stop it. Everything is smooth and tight and functions well. Overall I would say that it incorporates some great engineering features that make it a pleasure to use.

Good Router But With One Deficiency
I purchased this router because of the brand name - I always thought Bosch was at the top of the quality list. The only negative (very negative) comment I have is that the "plunge" is not smooth. The advertisement is that the plunge will side very easily (effortlessly) but that isn't the case on mine. I weigh 220 lbs. and almost have to sit on top of the motor to get it to go down (and, yet I have the release pushed back).

Capable Plunge Router
Purchased this router to surface live edge slabs using Nick Offerman rig from Fine Woodworking. The unit has plenty of power to drive a 1 3/4" diameter bit through walnut without any trouble. The trigger power switch in the handle is great. I had some initial trouble with the plunge slipping until I realized you have to ensure the release lever is secured in the vertical position. Overall, this is a quality router at a relatively affordable price.

Buyer beware
Great router with a nice balance, controllability and power... BUT; if you are planning on installing this in any(!) router table lift system, forget it. You can mount it in a table, but not in a lift system as the router base needs to be one the router due to the the with being on the base itself. Use the internet for possible solutions if this you intended use for further explanations. Sad that Bosch overlooked this issue. Recommended with reservations.

Best Mid-sized Router!
I purchased the plunge base and it is light weight, powerful and full of features. I especially like the fine variable adjust to home in on "just right depth." Feels good in the hand. The price was exceptional for a router of this quality.

Amazing balance
Bought this just today, loaded a 25mm radius round over bit into it (had to plunge through the base plate- easy fix, and went routing! The features make it a breeze to use. The afterlock micro adjustment is perfect, the spring loaded plunge lever a dream, the constant speed under load, amazing motor balance, just everything about it was a pleasure to use!
