Wonderful Addition
I purchased my 1st DeWalt 60 volt tool about a year ago which was the String Trimmer at a charity silent auction . This is the best trimmer I have ever had. I have a couple of gas trimmers that I have not used since I purchased this trimmer. Super easy to change trimmer string, easily dispenses this string with just a light tap, battery life is the best. The great thing is that you can use these 60 volt batteries with your 20 volt tools and they last forever.

Awesome product!
I would definitely recommend the 60v string trimmer! It has the same power as a gas trimmer and battery last forever! I'm happy!

Describe Yourself:
What a waste of money not what I expected
I have several 60v tools so I thought I’d give this one a try, right away when I opened the box I was very disappointed and should have returned it. It’s obvious it was designed to fit in that shipping box and not for yard work.
Let’s start with the folded shaft. I thought I would have future tools adaptable to the trimmer. Wrong. It’s equipped with a weak spot that’s all.
Next the shield might just as well not even be there. I’m used to trimming in shorts and a t-shirt. With the dewalt no matter how you use it your getting covered in debris, my legs were bleeding the first time I used it and thankfully I wear glasses! I’m sure that tiny shield was designed just to fit in the shipping box as well.
The trimmer head sucks! Replacing string should not be so complicated! Why dewalt did not use the industry standard (M10x1.25 LH trimmer head is truly baffling.
I was not impressed with run time like other reviewers but I will say the trimmer had plenty of power.
Don’t waste your money on this tool. I’m used to running quality trimmers like stihl and husqvarna, I purchased the dewalt to try and get away from the vibration of the gas motor, but the dewalt has plenty of vibration of its own and the lack of a proper shield and the difficulty of reloading the string make this tool miserable to use. The battery is also not easy to remove from the trimmer.
It’s obvious the engineers who designed this tool do not cut grass!

Almost as good as gas. Almost.
This trimmer is very powerful. But only if you consider that it is battery powered. I live on a rural, wooded lot and prefer to use a bladed head rather than string. This trimmer just didnt have the torque needed to drive the blades head through tall grass.

I gave it to my sister and it is absolutely perfect for her typical suburban application. She's thrilled to not need to mix gas or pull start her string trimmer ever again.

Great Power, terrible cutting head.
String breaks often and design of head makes reloading, rerouting very difficult. It would get 5 stars if the head functioned like my old gas powered husqvarnsa.

I was blown away
It's so quiet and powerful all at the same time. I couldn't believe how well it worked. I have about 1.75 acres and it will last long enough for me to go around everything I need it to. I have been recommending it to everyone looking for a new trimmer!

Just bought this tool, happy but battery life way to short took entire day to finish out back behind property, just long grass making a clear fire break! What normally would have been a two hour job w gas trimmer was all day and I had two batteries. Both died and couldn’t recharge fully, very long day!!!

Broke Spool and Line
I have not even trimmed my front yard of a small home plot and I have had to re-spool and thread at least 20 times and the spool broke. I initially used the stock line pre-installed but it was sheering off the spool head itself. Did not take long before I have to buy new line. Then I bought the round thicker line as per the manual and it still sheers off at the spool. Then to top it off the spool reel busted. The tool has power, and I love that fact, but when even at the low speed I can't keep the line from breaking.

Does the job
For most of your trimming needs you can use the low speed setting. The battery will outlast you on low speed. It has plenty of power on high speed to tackle stubborn weeds. The biggest don't have to rebuild your carb every year because of running ethanol fuel.
