    Good saw.
Got the best price, and I shopped locally and across the internet, from CPO and had the saw in my hands two and a half days after I ordered it. Great service! This saw is small enough to be used anywher you can power it and the dust collection seems to work reasonably well with my shop vac connected. So far the only problem I had was the "non thrue cut splitter" was missing from my saw. Called Dewalt customer service to ask if it was included with saw, they replied "should be there," it was not. They immediately shipped a new splitter to me at no cost at all and I had it in two days, that's what I call service. Saw was completely assembled when received but cart/stand required assembly which took about twenty minutes with no problems. Mounted saw on stand, checked everything out and off and running. I've only done some minimal ripping so far but expect to get much more use when I build a new garage and repair my breezeway. I am not a professional carpenter or woodworker but I am a professional heavy equipment repairman and I know good tools make a job go much smoother and easier, and this is one good tool.

    GREAT SAW....DEFINITELY WORTH THE $600
Great saw with great features...had to take a minute to read the directions to find some onboard items and how to use the fence ect but then easy. Easy to fold up and transport, MOST ACCURATE FENCE I've ever used on a saw. I've had a few table saws this blows them all out of the water...very sturdy base also, much sturdier than my friends portable Kolbalt saw. Legs form nice wide base so the saw isn't getting pushed over as I feed large lumber through it like I've experienced with other saws. GET IT, YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!!!

You can't miss with this saw!
I have a very limited space for my shop (half a garage). I love the way this saw folds up and can be stored without taking up a lot of space. Most of my power tools have to able to be put to the side, out of the way. There is more then enough power and I like that you have extra room (32 1/2") on the right side and allows me to change width of a side if I want to make them a little deeper.

    Pro level saw!
I am a building and remodeling contractor. I use this saw on a daily basis. The saw is powerful, safe and easy to use. The fence is great. The stand is very stable- feels very solid. The only con would be the amount of space that it takes up in the truck.

Great Saw But Dewalt misses on some features
I am a skilled do-it-yourselfer and will be using the saw to build custom furniture. I needed portability and a small footprint since I use the saw in my garage. The saw is very portable and everything stows nicely. The fence has been perfectly square. As many reviewers have noted the miter gauge is useless. There is too much wobble in the miter channel. I decided to build a cross cutting sled and found that standard 1 x hardwood had too much slop in the channel. The width of the channel is about 0.800 inches not 0.75 + inches. Dewalt provides a fence adjustment that gives an additional 2 inches of clearance for thin rip cuts. However the blade insert has big gaps around the blade making thin rips uncertain. A zero clearance insert is unavailable so I modified another manufacturer's zero clearance insert. After cutting the insert for the saw blade, I extended the cut with a jigsaw so that I could use Dewalt's riving knife. Since I didn't want to cut away metal from the riving knife, my maximum blade height will be limited to 2 1/4 inches. While it doesn't let me cut at full depth, it is adequate. I would also note that hookup to a vacuum is necessary. Without a vacuum, sawdust shoots out of the lower port for about 10 feet. I rarely will be using bevel cuts. That's good because it is difficult to bring the saw to 0 degrees and hold it there while tightening. The stand has been surprisingly stable.

Heavy Duty Competitor in the Job Site Saw Category
The DeWalt DWE7491RS is heavy weight competitor in the Job Site Saw category. With the stand this saw is a hefty 90lbs making it stable for bulky and/or heavy work pieces. The stand is very sturdy but takes several steps to set-up compared to say the Bosch in the same category. I really like the rack and pinon fence as it allows for greater precision and faster set up. And, I like the 3 year warranty. Also, this saw does accept a dado stack. The on-board storage is lacking a place for the fence and a spare blade. Other wise I really like this saw.

I recently read the reviews on a variety of table saws and based on that I selected a Bosch model. I was happy with the Bosch unit but I am starting a project where I am building between 85-100 drawers in an area that I built for my wife's craft and sewing interests. There are so many things that need organizing that building drawers in the unused spaces between the 24" on center trusses seemed like a great way to utilize that space.

I soon realized that the Bosch saw was limited to a maximum ripping size of 18". The drawer bottoms ranged from 20"-22" in width and up to 29" in length. So it was either try to cut the plywood for the bottoms with my circular saw or jig saw, neither of which was efficient or accurate. This limitation was compounded by my constantly having to switch between my Dado blade and the ripping blade so I decided to buy another table saw.

The DeWalt DWE7491RS was highly rated and had the ability to rip widths up to 32" which was important for my needs. The instructions were not as well illustrated as I am used to seeing and it took me longer than it should have to assemble the stand. Once I figured out what was needed, everything fit nicely and resulted in a very nice assembled product.

Storage of the accessories for this saw are extremely well thought out and everything has a place and is easy to access. Again the illustrations were lacking and I had to call three different DeWalt Service Centers until Jim at the Milwaukee Service Center finally helped me figure out where to store the Miter Gauge.

Now to operating the saw. The blade was dead on for 90 degrees to the table. The index for the size of the wood you wish to cut was also exactly correct! Everything about using this saw made me extremely glad I invested in an additional saw! I would rough cut a 4'X8' sheet of 1/4" plywood for the drawer bottoms to 21"X29" in a matter of a couple minutes.

Later when I would cut the bottoms to their specific size I could trust the sizing gauge completely and it was so easy to use. I can easily roll the saw outside and set it up in about a minute and then back inside when finished cutting the large pieces.

In the shop when ripping drawer sides and ends it a matter of seconds to change the fence position between the smaller range of 0"-24" and 8"-32". The more I use the saw the more I appreciate how much work went into the design. Clearly this is a saw that was designed by people who have used saws themselves. I am very pleased with it and would recommend it without reservation.

Excellent saw and great portability. I bought this particular saw for the fact that the rip width is wider on this saw than a lot of other job site saws that are available. This gives me the ability to wheel it on site and do basic cuts and rips for remodeling as well as a nice wide rip that I can do basic cabinet work in the garage at home. Very versatile and powerful. Although the blade it comes with is probably not the best, it is a solid starter blade, but you'll want to pony up for a few better blades for your rip and crosscut operations.

What is the difference between DWE7491RS and 7499GD besides price?
    ------- on Sep 7, 2014
BEST ANSWER: . The two saws are identical except that the GD saw has an added safety feature called Guard Detect. If using the Guard Detect saw without the blade guard installed, you need to hit an additional over ride switch to get the saw to power on and an LED light will flash to warn you that the guard is not installed. It is newer than the RS model but does not replace it since many of the contractors that use these DeWalt saws choose to not use the blade guard and for them the guard detect feature is an inconvenience.
What is the flip over fence ???
    Mac M on Jun 27, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The back of the fence is movable and will actually flip over to the fence side and allow for a material rest for rips that are wider than the actual table. It will also adjust to rest on the saw table so that small rips can be made while still using the guard. Hopefully this helps.

BEST ANSWER: If your talking about the front edge of the saw and the measurement to the front of the fence it is 2 1/2" when the fence is on. 3 1/4" from the table to the knob that guides the fence. Hopefully that answers your question.

    New Vs. Reconditioned

What's the difference between New and Factory-Reconditioned?

Factory-Reconditioned products have been returned to the manufacturer and are restored to like-new operating condition; they go through a rigorous testing and inspection process. Plus, they offer a significant savings vs. new.
    • Reconditioned products may have minor cosmetic blemishes or scratches that do not affect item performance.
    • Reconditioned products may not come with all of the consumables the new version comes with (bits, sanding pads/papers, cases, etc.).
    • Both come with a manufacturer warranty and are covered by our Money Back Guarantee; New is 30 days, Reconditioned is 60 days.
