Let me start with saying CPO Outlets always gets 5 STARS. That being said, Bostich makes a great line of pneumatic tools as well. THIS floor stapler is the exception. This tool is nothing more than 7/32 narrow crown stapler with some piece of added plastic head, attempting to facilitate the application of engineered (ply type) hardwood flooring that is less than 1/2 inch in thickness. Bostich failed at this! The added attachment is flimsy and does not stay in place. It is difficult to set properly, and the thumb screws become loose after 15 or 20 shots. I have gotten to were I can eyeball the shot without resetting the screws. This does add time to the job, but makes it right! You really have to pay attention to the placement of the stapler or you will overshoot the board, that is, the staple will wind up on top of the finished floor rather than on the tongue. A small LED light beneath the mag well would be good. It's hard to see if the safety bars are on the tongue or elsewhere. It does have "little yellow" tabs to assist in placement on either side but, you have to get pretty close to visualize them. Even at the price I paid, I expected better from Bostich. This could be a decent tool if Bostich "Re- engineered" it. If you are a DIY'r, consider renting a better tool like the Powermatic. Or, go with 3/8 inch, or thicker, floor and rent a MIII Bostitch 1/2 inch floor stapler with a mallet. Some Home Depot's carry and rent them. They are the Boss. Had mine 15 years. Not first rebuild yet. Works every time I pull it out. In closing, I will remove this Bostitch EHF1838K-R 18-Gauge Oil-Free Engineered Floor Stapler, from my inventory after I close out this job. I will look for a better one. Porter Cable, if you're reading this, its time to step it up and make a better-engineered flooring stapler than this one!!!

Can this be used on 3/8" engineered floorings?
A shopper on Nov 5, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Each floor manufacturer has specific guidelines for installation. I would go thru the distributor and or manufacturer for specific. On my Mannington floor I used my botich MkIII 15 ga.floor stapler. The one your asking about (18ga narrow) was specifically recommended for my Novellas flooring. Again, go to the manufacturer's website and look for the installation information. Most give specific brands and models of nailers and or staplers that works best for their product.
what width staples does it use.the specs only gave lenth
Preacher on Nov 2, 2014
BEST ANSWER: It WILL accept a more standard 1/4" crown 18g staple as well. This size staple is much cheaper as well....typically.
can use this on 3/8 inch engerned hard wood flooring
Roderick on Apr 30, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes, this unit drives 18-Gauge staples for solid hardwood flooring 5/16 in. to 7/16 in. and engineered hardwood flooring 1/2 in. to 5/8 in. thick.
