Great planer, best customer service ever
My planer arrived on Monday, and that evening I noticed shipping damage to the base of my planer. The cast aluminum base was bent in and cracked. Damage was evident on the shipping box. I figured this was the start of a huge hassle to get a replacement. .
I called CPO customer service on Tuesday morning. The rep immediately apologized for the damage, ordered a new planer for me, and made arrangements for the shipping company to pick up the damaged planer from my front door on Wednesday. My new planer arrived in perfect condition on Friday.
That's amazing customer service and I'll certainly never hesitate to purchase from CPO again.
And yes, the planer is great. Not screaming loud, cuts perfectly.

Makita thickness planner
I owned the older version of this tool and used it hard for 25 years on construction sites. It is starting to slip a little bit, so I upgraded. My new one works beautifully!!

It does a very good job, no snipe on the ends of the boards. The power is adequate for what I do.

Best portable planner out there.
This is the best portable planner I've used. Just moving it is easier than my old Delta. Lack of snipe is worth the purchase. It is quiet also.

Terrific planer
i have a full shop but needed a portable planer for new house and renovation job sites. You would need a crane to move my other planer so I bought this. This planer actually cuts as well as my larger planer. It is super easy to move and takes seconds to set up. OK Makita, now make a job site joiner.

wood working
This is a powerful tool that preforms the task intended. I expect a lot from the equipment that I purchase and Makita has always had the performance built into their tools. Price is never a controlling factor when shopping for new tools. This tool preforms as expected.

Best in class for breadbox planers!
It lives up to its billing as best in class.
If the blades are easy to change, add a star.

Early review
As others mentioned, unit arrived well packed. After double checking that all bolts/screws were tight, I put it to work. Very impressed right off! I wear ear protection and wasn't sure it was cutting at first, but flying chip said it was. Couldn't believe it was that quiet, as most planers can be heard a block away. A little heavy to move around frequently but it is a solid machine and the weight aids it's performance. If you're tired of shelling out $$$ for plastic & pot metal that makes you feel sick when you open the box, then you'll be very happy about this machine. Snipe? What snipe? Just support board lightly as outfeeds. More later!

Makita 2012 NB
This planer is very nice. It's typical Makita, being well engineered, simple to operate and does incredible job. Little finish sanding needed if any, depending on project. It's also amazingly quiet. I set it on a thin piece of rubber back carpet, it stays put and just purrs. Also little or no snipe.

I WORK WITH MOST ALL HARD WOODS
my last 3 Makita planers came with a (dust)chip defector that I hooked up to the dust collector.
WAS SURPRIZED TO FIND I HAVE TO HUNT FOR ONE BEFORE I CAN USE IT, CONFINED TO A SMALL AREA.
