This is next level power. The FLEXVOLT system brings you the future of power with cordless tools unlike anything you've ever experienced. With a highly innovative voltage-changing battery and a lineup of groundbreaking 60V MAX and 120V MAX tools to match, FLEXVOLT tools have the power that will revolutionize the way work gets done.
One battery. Two voltages. The FLEXVOLT battery is backwards compatible with DeWALT's 20V MAX tools so you get up to 4x the runtime. And because FLEXVOLT battery is the only battery that automatically changes voltages when you change tools, you can slide the battery into a whole new lineup of tools from DeWALT.
Features:
  • Power of a cord with cordless freedom
  • 4X Runtime compared to DCB201 1.5 Ah Battery Pack
  • 3X Power compared to DC9096 18V Battery
  • Tri-Platform Compatibility 20V MAX, 60V MAX and 120V MAX
  • Durable construction with a single piece cell holder
  • LED State of Charge Display
  • Note: The battery amp hour when used with 60V MAX Dewalt tools will be 2 Ah. If used with a 20V MAX Dewalt tool, the amp hour will be 6 Ah. Total battery watt hour will be the same at 120 Wh.

At first I loved these batteries but after reviewing dewalt's info on these I was very disappointed to find out that yes the 6ah are 4xs the power and the 9ah is 6xs the power but the 259 dollar 12 ah is 8xs the power compared to the 1.5 ah according to dewalt. It Does not make me wanna spend 159 on each battery anymore. And definitely not 259 on a battery that is just 8xs more powerful then the 1.5

Electrician
Iam a residential electrician. Couldn’t wait to try these out on the 60 volt hole hawg. Batteries lasted 6 months and won’t hold charge 200 dollars worth of batteries down the drain.

Best battery so far
I love the new flex volt tools and esp batteries they last so much more time then the original.. my friends tease me telling me my box truck is a mobile dewalt showroom, but its full of dewalt becouse the quality of dewalt in my opinion and 30+years experience far surpasses all other name brands. Trust me ive tried all of them. Thank you dewalt for continuing to make my everyday work so much easier and less stressful by providing the best tools designed for the jobs i use them for..

Power matches the tool
The twenty volt class of tools are great and I have a good assortment of them but they all come with short life batteries. These batteries fills the need for longer off site use.

Doesn't take a charge
Purchased 7 months ago.
Didn't use them for 4 months and then included them to the fleet of the 4Ah packs. The worked well for maybe 2-4 times each and then failed to take a charge.
Not worth it!

Short battery lifespan
The others saying battery not taking charge is true, mine only charged less than 10 times, then die, I take apart the battery found some design problem with the balance board inside the battery, even all cells are good, but if some of the cells drop lower than like /3 volts, then the whole battery won’t take charge

Will this battery work in a 20 volt Max black and Decker?
Frank on Jan 9, 2018

will this increase the power of a 20 volt tool ?
A shopper on Jul 22, 2017
BEST ANSWER: No, it will not increase the power of the tool, but it will definitely increase the run time of the tool between charging. I have been using the FlexVolt batteries on all my 20V DeWalt tools because of how long they can be used before having to recharge. I recommend them highly.
