Rides up over compacted snow
I bought an Ariens because I was always under the impression that it was the best. My Deluxe 24 seems to only like snow that is dry and isn't compacted in any way. First big storm this weekend and I had to pull out my single stage to clean up after the Ariens. Doesn't work any better than a home improvement store no-name blower I used to have.

Came just in time
Bought this on Saturday Mar 17, delivered on Wednesday Mar 21 and got 12" of snow on Saturday Mar 24. I ran it after the first 6" and it worked great, much better than my old 34 yr old Roper. My 64 yr old wife ran it after the second 6" and handle it like a pro. We're well satisfied. My only complaint so far is the chute only turns about 180 degrees. I'd like to see 200 degrees so when I come to an area already cleared, I could swing the chute to throw behind a little so not to cover already cleared area.

Money well spent
In January of this year I purchased my deluxe 24. I originally looking at the compact 24 but for a few bucks more the deluxe 24 had more to offer. Yesterday 9 inches of wet snow fell in Philadelphia. I wasn't able to get out and shovel until 7:00 at night so the snow was really wet and heavy. This was the first time I got to use my new blower. Long story short I pulled the deluxe out of the shed, it fired right up and ate through the heavy wet stuff like it was nothing. It threw that wet stuff so far I had to adjust the angle of the shoot because it was throwing the wet snow across the street. And it even ate through the wall of plowed snow in front of my driveway. I lent it to my one neighbor who also had a late start like me and he was outright giddy as he was cleaning his property with it. We named the blower Orange Crush.

Nice, but a bit of a disappointment
I bought this snow blower between Thanksgiving and Christmas so I'd have one ready for snow season. I chose Ariens because they are made in the USA. Maybe they have the same Chinese Engine or other parts, but I have yet to find out. Overall the snow blower does quiet good. I have used it at least weekly for light fluffy snow of a few inches to over 2 feet of heavy snow. The engine bogs down on the deep snows and cutting drifts, but it does not stall. I use the lowest forward speed for deep snow. The throw distance is good, but could be improved by making the shortest distance a bit shorter. I'll modify the chute over the summer. The engine starts very easily whether I use the electric start or pull rope. When out and away from electric the engine seldom requires more than one pull and it turns over quite easily. Gas usage is quite good. I generally get about 4 hours of run time on medium to deep snow. I also do not use automotive gasoline with alcohol in it. I use white gas the same kind I've been using in small engines for nearly 50 years. The stuff for cars is no good for small engines. I do not like the poor handling of this snow blower. The auto turn or whatever it is called is a joke, Turning is now easy nor is the turn radius very good compared to similar size units of other brands that my neighbors have. The higher speeds are a joke. There needs to be a centrifugal clutch added to keep the blasted thing from jumping when using all but the lowest 2 speeds when engaging the drive. Perhaps this was designed by a student engineer and never checked by an engineer who knows what they are doing. Same for the light. The person who designed the worthless headlight must have been drunk! Whoever approved the design was no better. I had student engineers who worked for me who could have done a much better job. The light is blinding when looking down at the speed selector at night. When starting it glares very bad when you look down to pull the st

Very nice snowblower overall
Let me start off by saying living in Northeast Pennsylvania I use this machine quite a lot. Overall it is very nice. Easily clears 24 inches+. I love the Auto-Turn feature, makes it so easy to maneuver. Also throws the snow very far. The construction seems to be quite sturdy and the steel doesn't flex or dent easily. I expect this blower would last quite some time if properly maintained.

No April Fool's Joke
After getting buried two winters ago, I purchased my Deluxe 24 in the fall of 2015. Only used it a few times last winter, but this winter it has proven its' worth. My experience with a blizzard in mid-March showed me it can handle deep drifts of dry snow, but the April Fools Day storm really presented a challenge. A solid foot of very wet, heavy snow typical of spring storms. I have snow removal responsibilities at work so I didn't get home until the end of the storm. The end of the driveway was a solid 3' of wet sludge. The Ariens fired up first pull as always and although it got a workout, it tackled the driveway and the banking without clogging. I will agree with some reviews that mention the slowest forward speed being too fast and the fastest reverse speed being too slow. Strongly disagree that it can't handle wet snow. Very pleased that I went with the heated grips, these make the task much more bearable when it is frigid. Bottom line for me with a snowthrower is: does it start easily and will it tackle tough conditions. The answer for the Deluxe 24 is a resounding YES!

Deluxe 30 Auto Drive
I"ve had a Craftsman 1029 snow blower for 25 years , no problems excepts auger belts ,bought a new Ariens Deluxe 30 and couldn't wait to use it for the first time today. I have a crusher dust driveway that is fairly even and I got to say unless there is a way to adjust the auto turn, it's useless.
Pros ,starts 1-2 pull, throws snow far
Cons, auto turn, heavy, gas guzzler

I'm not going to rate the durability until it makes it to at least 10 years

Easy to use and relentless as a snow blower!
I've had this 24" Deluxe for 6 years and it runs like it's brand new. My driveway is dirt, about 100' long and I live in the country so I have to clear around the mailbox on the road as well. I also run a path to the bird feeder and areas for the dog to run. Yeah, sometimes I have to wrestle with it over uneven surfaces (I'm 70 years old) but I'm very pleased with the service this Ariens has provided. When I buy a new one I'll definitely get the heated handles.

Very good machine
It blows really good, it is an easy starter with the Briggs and Stratton engine with adequate power. One draw back is the snow collects on the choke and key switch then freezes for start up next time, so I turn the key back to on and put the choke on when I shut it off. The hand warmers are a good addition to have.
