Works perfect....
Ive been running snowblowers many years.
This one really does the job.
Chews up everything ive chopoed down from my 5 foot froze banks.
Im talking 4 inch thick kayers of froze crust íce. Everything n just spits it 50 feet away.
The way it turns is great. No struggling.
Starts first pull everytime.
One it wash broke in..... 4 hours.... It sipped gas.
Amazed how little it used to do so much work.
They do not recomend using chains.
To hard on friction wheel.
I mite wind in a few large hex head screws into some of the tred lugs like i did on my atv for ice.... Maybe every other one.
The perfect blower!!!

I will never buy an Arien's again! I bought this snow blower brought it home, store it in my shed and the first time i need to use it, it snapped the drive belt. So i bought the ariens replacement belt put it on, and got it running like a top again. The next heavy snow it broke the same drive belt. So I called ariens warrenty they told us to take it to an ariens dealer and they will cover the cost to repair it. I call the closest dealer to my home and they told me they will not service it because I didnt buy it from them. I'm feeling as Arien's is not a dependable machine, all I need is a machine that I can depend on to clean the snow around my home after a long day of work. Right now Arien's isn't showing me that their product can do that

My biggest gripe regarding the Deluxe 30 was the auto-turn as it made control of the machine very difficult on uneven terrain. I have since installed polymer skids at my cost of $40 and raised the auger housing gap to 5/8" above ground and 95% of my auto-turn issues have been solved. Ariens: make poly skids stock and recommend higher auger housing gap on auto-steer models.

Engine is poor - fuel leaks
I have a couple year old model of the deluxe 30 with polar force briggs engine. Been using for a couple years and last year I came home and there was gas leaking out of the carb on to the floor. Glad I caught this quickly, a fuel leak is a safety hazard. Fixed the carb.(cheaper to replace carb with new then rebuild it) This year I start using it and it develops another fuel leak - this time the fuel tank seam is leaking and the fuel shut off is also leaking. Again, glad I caught this quickly before a fire started.

Good Machine With Exceptions
This machine will chew up a full chute of snow and throw it with no problems. I like the design, performance, and build of this machine except for:

1. AutoTurn is a nightmare if you have any uneven surfaces or very deep snow. As other reviewers have mentioned you will exert a lot of energy just trying to keep the machine going straight in deep snow or uneven terrain. If i could disable the AutoTurn I would.

2. The ignition key system, choke, and engine speed control are conspicuously cheap plastic parts just waiting to break on an otherwise solid machine.

3. The oil fill cap/dipstick takes two hands to put back on after removing it as it fits unreasonably tight.

4. The handles and trigger controls should be ergonomically designed to keep your wrists and hands as straight as possible to avoid strain on such a large machine. The current handles force the operator to twist hands and wrists in unnatural ways to control the machine causing fatigue.

I did buy this machine because it was better than anything else on the showroom floor. To be fair however I feel I must share what I think are the detractors as they are legitimate and noteworthy.

Auto-steer is a problem
This would be a good snow blower except for the auto-steer. The differential causes the unit to jerk from side to side whenever it meets uneven resistance. For example, if one side of the unit hits a tire track the differential disengages one wheel and the unit pulls off a straight line. It works good with fresh snow on a clean driveway. But if you have any ice pack or bumps in your driveway, this thing will give you a workout trying to keep it straight.

Very pleased
This is my 3rd walk behind blower. Very pleased so far. Previous blower was mounted on my lawn tractor which could not handle snow removal very well on my slightly uphill driveway. Much more pleased with this unit. Starts every time.
I am now 60 years of age and I remember my Dad having several Ariens blowers when I was growing up.

Too Heavy In The Front
I've used an older 11/30 Deluxe and was impressed as to the distance that machine would throw snow and that is what I was looking for. My older Craftsman was a good Blower but did lack the throwing distance that I needed.
The new Ariens 30" Deluxe I bought looks very similar to the older one I had used years ago but somewhere along the years they added the "Auto Turn" feature. It seems to work ok, but I wonder if by adding that feature, did they have to move the axle to the rear of the machine to accommodate this.
The difference between the axle location on the older vs newer machine is probably 2" or more. This makes the machine quite a bit heavier in the front. When the axle was farther ahead it made the machine easier to maneuver, lighter on the shoes so it didn't dig into the gravel when the ground wasn't frozen and lighter on the handle end when you were moving it around. Also I don't see much difference in the handle construction to allow for the increased strain to pivot and maneuver this around. I think there could be cracked or broken handles over time.
One other comment I'd like to point out is the size and construction of the gas tank. I think its too small for the size of the machine and what's with the metal gas tank.

Aside from the fore mentioned I do think It is a well build machine... it just needs some design changes.

Purchased new this year, was nervous about the negative reviews related to the auto turn. I had one small snow, blower performed great, auto turn was totally fine. Just wonder if users with bad experience have never used a snowblower before.

Had a 22" snowfall over the weekend, snowblower worked great. Cleared my steep driveway very quickly. Traction was great, plenty of power, awesome machine.

I grew up with an Ariens and was always impressed with it. New machine is great, not a piece of plastic on the machine. Hope it lasts 35 years like my fathers has.

Great Machine
This is my 3rd Ariens snow thrower. They have all been excellent. The deluxe 30 was an upgrade to a machine that I was very happy with, due to purchasing a larger property. It has worked as expected, excellent.
