Worked poorly, then broke
I tried about 30 times to make a good flare on 3/8 copper nickel, wasted quite a bit of tubing and several hours. Flares kept coming out with the bubble collapsed or with creases in the flare. I couldn't figure it out. Finally, the bubble flaring anvil snapped in half: it had a crack in it from the start, and wasn't holding its internal conical shape when pressed into the tubing.

Had to go to the auto parts store to get a new tool to finish the job- the new tool worked perfectly on the first try.

Gets 2 stars, because the bending pliers and cutter worked fine, though they are definitely of cheap construction.

Is the British flare for MGB'S possible with this tool?
Larry A on Oct 7, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Think that the flares on both sae and metric are the same. Only the tubing and Farrel and nut are metric. Unless you are referring to a specialty fitting or application. In the kit the dies are the only thing that changes the actual tool that flares the tube stays the same depending on flare or bubble
