Yes, I would recommend this to a friend (1)
Might have gotten 5 stars for light work, BUT
A BIG but ...

There appears to be ZERO support or selection for blades.
1 the Black and Decker web site is nearly useless for trying to find a selection of blades
2) the official dealers that Black and Decker lists (Lowe's and Home Depot) have never seen this saw or heard of it and suggest shopping online to see if you can find blades
3) the online owners manual says not one word about the size of the arbor or acceptable/safe diameters of blades you can use

Based on the utter lack of information and support for replacement blades, I would say that Black and Decker intends for this tool to be thrown away when the blade needs replacement. Which warrants a zero or a 1 rating.

If there was a way to find a selection of blades, with the understanding that this is for light duty only, I would give it 5 stars. As it is, unless I can find a blade for it, I'll have to throw it in the dumpster

Gear teeth
This is the second one I have own. This one I have had for less than 30 days. I will be taking it back and refunding it. Tonight when I was just cutting a simple 2x4 untreated board it just stopped several times. Then after I finished and went to cut another 2x4 it wouldn’t run. Then I got it to run but it was making a clunking sound. After looking into it there are three teeth on the big gear ring that have been busted off. The main teeth gear don’t go all the way onto the big gear ring. The drive gear teeth rod should be longer so there is full contact between gears and not half contact.

this is my favorite cordless circular saw. I use it with the 20V MAX* 4.0 Ah Lithium Battery Pack. Weight wise this battery balances the handling very well.

Bought this tool a year ago, performs great! People need to keep in mind this is not an industrial heavy duty power tool. I have used this tool on several day long projects, works great. Your battery however, is not up to keeping up with the demand. Bought a better battery online that can deliver. Now, if I can only find a replacement blade - I could keep on using this tool.
P.S. I have been using B&D tools all my life.

New Vs. Reconditioned

What's the difference between New and Factory-Reconditioned?

Factory-Reconditioned products have been returned to the manufacturer and are restored to like-new operating condition; they go through a rigorous testing and inspection process. Plus, they offer a significant savings vs. new.
  • Reconditioned products may have minor cosmetic blemishes or scratches that do not affect item performance.
  • Reconditioned products may not come with all of the consumables the new version comes with (bits, sanding pads/papers, cases, etc.).
  • Both come with a manufacturer warranty and are covered by our Money Back Guarantee; New is 30 days, Reconditioned is 120 days.
