great drill
I use this drill for repairs in my piano rebuilding business. It has plenty of speed for smaller drill bits as well as plenty of torque for larger drilling jobs. It tightens down easily on conventional cylindrical drill bit shanks and releases easily with the chuck key. Absolutely everything I was looking for, along with the Makita name, which I've used for decades and trust implicitly.

Excellent product,not over-designed
This is a replacement for one that gave up the ghost after 20 years. I like the balance and power. I usually use it for two things; re-mixing drywall redi-mix and installing locksets.I like the old style auxiliary handle much better than the new. The old style just screwed into the side of the drill body.If it lasts ten years it'll certainly outlast me.
