I have had mine for well over a year and like it more everyday. The chuck has very low run out and the stroke of the quill is very long. The variable speed and speed selection menu are great. I never changed the speed on my old Jet Drill Press as it was a hassle figuring out which pulleys to use and moving the belt. Now, I change every time I use it. It is easy to move the table up and down but with the long quill stroke do not have to move it as much. There are two things which could improve the Nova Voyager 1. Add a threaded place on top of the head so one could screw in an eye in to use for lifting the head up on the column. It is heavy and not easy to manhandle during assembly. 2. I would like to see some type of auxiliary on off switch. I really do not like the membrane type switch on the head, it is a bit awkward to push, and hard to find if you need to shut off the machine in a hurry. Would I buy this machine again….Yes as it is one of the best tools in my shop.

Next generation drill press!
The drill press is great!!! Assembly was prett straight forward and easy until the head stock needed to be installed. It is very heavy and requires mechanical help or at least two people to lift it into place. It comes packaged very well in one box on a pallet. One bit of warning, the freight company won't deliver without an appointment that they make Via phone so please include your phone number with your order. One last thing, it comes with a Jacobs style chuck that requires a key. Consider buying a keyless chuck to add to this otherwise very well thought out drill press.

What is the maximum and minimum capacity of the chuck?
Doug S on Mar 19, 2017
BEST ANSWER: 3mm ( just under 1/8") to18mm ( about 5/8) is what's on the chuck. I can't fit a 1/16 bit but had no problems with a 7/64.. with the 6" quill travel I'm thinking you could have a chuck for small drills that could fit into the larger chuck without problems
Is there a keyless chuck available for it?
